It was a day out on a friend’s motor launch on the Hamble Estuary in England that inspired Sarah’s War. Brian first wrote it as a play and staged it in the Guildford Fringe in 2015. He then rewrote it as a shooting script for this ambitious feature length film.
As a notable writer, producer and director, Brian took on a terrific series of challenges as he had to find 1940’s locations, ranging from a woman’s refuge, shops, a courtroom, a boat of the period, all with set dressing help and support from his crew of Surrey Border Movie Makers members. The result you see is two years of determination and success on shoots over four counties with many months of editing to follow.

The Pursuit of Love (2021)
A lavish dollop of contemporary film making tripe
A gross waste of quality filming and acting resource. This is a indication of just how sad and inept the BBC commissioning department has become.
Manchester by the Sea (2016)
Disappointing
To make a hero out of violent head case who routinely attacks innocent people is verging on the sick. The writing and screenplay is tedious, and overall it is far too long. The huge popularity amongst film critics says a lot about the film industry and awards system. On the plus side the acting and casting is excellent.
Downton Abbey (2019)
A superb production...thoroughly enjoyable!
As ever we have the Downton high quality production values in a cinema setting. Fantastic acting and cinematography. The narrative a tiny bit far fetched in places but hey ho this is sumptuous and real entertainment. I am very tempted to give it ten stars because you leave the cinema with a warm feeling. Congratulations to Julian Fellowes and the fabulously talented creative and technical team.
Sanditon (2019)
Can't watch the rest of the series.....
The 'adaption' is so creaky, lame and inappropriate for the period. It is a great shame that so much resource and talent can be wasted in such an ill conceived project.
The Shallows (2016)
Good entertainment
Loved this well crafted movie and the 57 million made at the box office speaks volumes!
Sarah's War (2018)
Recommended!
An engaging film with a compelling and unfolding storyline. The post-war narrative is particularly illuminating in terms of the social norms of the period.
Vermijo (2017)

A great story, some beautifully crafted cinematography and a superb music score.
This is a terrific film that is not to be missed!
War & Peace (2016)
Casting of Paul Dano - a dreadful mistake
Paul Dano sticks out like a sore thumb. A decent actor but he has completely 'unclassic' features.
A ton of money and talent has been thrown at this but there is something incredibly clunky, dull and uninteresting about the whole series.
