I Am 24 (2010)
A nice and a simple movie with a nice concept
I am 24 is about a man of 40 plus age who falls in love with a glady half his age.It is about a middle aged man who resorts to lies in order to retain the love of his life and the struggles of budding actors who hope to make it big.Shubendu, played by Rajat Kapoor falls for Kanka(Manjari Fadnis) and to impress her,he starts lying to huge extent, something he never tried. Gagan(Ranvir Shorey) on the other hand helps him to cook up fake stories to win over Kanka. This is what'I M 24' is all about.A movie directed by Saurabh Shukla, the movie has been produced by Arindam Chaudhuri's Planman Motion Pictures.Rajat Kapoor playing the role of a hesitant middle aged man to the hilt. Ranvir Shorey and Neha Dhupia have made a nice contribution and make the audience burst into laughter with their childish antics. Lilette Dubey and Saurabh Shukla who played on screen couple fit the bill perfectly with their acting wonder. Nobody should miss this movie as the movie is really nice and not to be missed.
The Last Lear (2007)
Best of Big B!!
Amitabh Bachchan is extraordinary talent. This is perhaps one of his his finest performances ever. The last lear has been directed by Rituparno Ghosh,a very talented director. This coming together of this two awesome talent is what makes this art film different and special.Bachchan ji plays the role of Harish Mishra,an intense, generous, impulsive, and his English line delivery is spectacular. The film belongs to him completely, although the rest of the cast do a good job. Preity Zinta is extremely vulnerable as Shabnam. She lets go of her bubbly, vivacious image completely, and is portrayed as a very depressed woman throughout. And although she gives a fine and very sincere performance, I don't find it any better than in her commercial films - I generally prefer her in roles of vibrant and strong women who are full of life and happiness, because that's what she is. Anyway, I liked the scenes in which she smoke anxiously, I liked the scene in which Bachchan teaches her how to release tensions by screaming, and she breaks down (this scene has appeared several times in different films), and she was particularly impressive in the film's last scene. Shefali Shah turns in a brilliant, exceptional performance, not that I expected any less from her. Arjun Rampal and Divya Dutta are very good as well. I knew from the very beginning that this film would not work for the wide audience, it's a film for people who like art films.
Dosar (2006)
Perfect movie for all the Bengali viewers
The story of a husband, wife and betrayal by the husband has been brilliantly brought on screen by Rituparno Ghosh in this movie,Dosar.I used to watch Bengali movies and this is the perfect movie for all the Bengali viewers.Starring Prosenjit Chatterjee and Konkona Sen Sharma in the lead role of husband and wife, both were simply amazing.Other most special thing about this film is that it was shot in black and white and not in color.Without the brilliance of Rituparno, this movie would not have been possible. The story about how a husband cheats on his wife and how she comes to know about his extra marital affair is superb. But the way both have performed in the second half is something too good.
Rok Sako To Rok Lo (2004)
Great job by musicians Jatin Lalit
A great film with good message for today's youth,Rok Sako To Rok Lo is the story of students of two schools, the rivalry that they had and the love story that develops as the movie moves on. Starring Yash Pandit,Sunny Deol,Carran Kapoor,Manjari Fadnis and Namrata Shirodkar in the lead role, the film had perfect blend of fun, adventure, suspense and what not. A superb entertainer in its own way.The movie had a nice ending with lessons not only for characters in the film but for the viewers as well.I liked most of the songs but Thaam lo and the title track are my favorite.Great job by musicians Jatin Lalit for producing such melodious tracks.
Do Dooni Chaar (2010)
You will realize, yes it does happen with us
Habib Faisal's movie,Do Dooni Chaar, movie portrays a normal middle class family with mummy like housewife saving a rupee wherever possible; father still using age-old scooter; decent and trying to be a boy daughter; and a ambitious son doing just good with his demanding girlfriend. There are number of scenes and events in the film to which an average middle class family can relate to and say that "yes, it does happen with us".
.This really is the life of a middle class family in India.Hats off to the cast and Habib Faisal for such an amazing and beautiful movie. The acting is also very good.Rishi Kapoor is brilliant in his role of a teacher and has made it look so effortless. It was great to see Neetu Singh after so many years and she too is brilliant.
