I thought this movie was really funny and the characters, despite their ridiculousness were genuinely likable. Sure it wasn't exactly Oscar-bait or a what some might call a cinematic masterpiece, but it made me laugh dammit and laugh a lot. With all that's going on in the world these days, that's a precious and valuable commodity, and I don't think people should scorn it. I think one of the reasons this is the most popular film in theatres right now is that it's just plain funny and people like to have something to laugh at. While I liked Borat, which all the critics are apparently ga-ga for right now, I thought this movie was a lot funnier, had more plot, more gags per second and was less cruel to real people.
Look, if you're looking for the latest depressing Clint Eastwood directorial effort, this obviously isn't it, but if you're looking for some ridiculous silly humor, this is a great way to spend a few hours in my opinion
