Do Dooni Chaar (2010)
A movie for the aam aadmi
Do Dooni Chaar is an excellent and very well made movie. While watching the movie I was feeling as I were Rishi Kapoor, my wife were Neetu Singh and my children were their children. Everything shown and every character shown are so realistic that even for a moment you do not feel that you are watching a fictional story of an imaginary family. It is this realistic touch of simple middle class Indian life and simple middle class Indian characters that makes this movie a winner all the way. Whether it's Rishi's restricting his daughter from doing a call centre job or it's his blaming himself for his son's spoilage or it's Neetu's complaining to her husband for making her leave her job or it's her fuming over the monthly income and expenditure budget of the family; everything is natural. It's the typical Indian middle class family which barely manages to live a reasonable life but still dreams big. The movie effectively underscores the nobility of the noble profession of teaching along with the fact that teachers are the one of the least paid salaried people in India which is a major factor behind the poor educational standards in our country. Its the best movie made for the aam aadmi.
Rok Sako To Rok Lo (2004)
Movie with a blend of youth and experience.
Rok sako to rok lo marked Arindam Chaudhuri's entry in Bollywood as a director. The movie had many new faces. From the director to the actors and actresses,it had freshers all the way.Sunny Deol and Namrata Shirodkar were among the experienced actors in the film.Sunny Deol is superb in the film. Arindam Chaudhuri is also the writer of the film and as a debut director,he has done a tremendous job in getting the kind of output in the form RSTRL.The movie is for the teenagers and teaches something at some stage or the other in the film. The music and the tracks are equally good, specially the title track.Hats of to Jatin Lalit for the kind of music that they have been producing for years.A tremendous movie to watch. The least to be said, the only thing I would say is watch it to enjoy it.
The Last Lear (2007)
Rituparno and Amitabh Bachchan's magical creation.
The last lear is the result of the magical combination of Amitabh Bachchan and Director Rituparno Ghosh.Perhaps this can be called as one of Amitabh's best performance. At least this is what I feel like.Rituparno is one of the best director in Bengali cinema and once again he proved with this movie why he is the best. The story is really different and Amitabh Bachchan who plays a Shakespearean age actor does full justice to his role.Preity Zinta,Arjun Rampal &Shefali Shah are also too good in the movie.Preity looks quite weird in such serious roles because of three kind of girl she is but she has done good job.I loved the movie more so because most of the people in the cast. An intriguing movie in typical Ghosh style, where people quietly sit and talk and the narration is by means of flashbacks. The story is that of an ageing and ailing stage actor being persuaded to act in a movie, which happens to be his last, and has been left in a coma as the aftereffects of the shooting.Amitabh looks amazing in the movie, and has delivered an intense performance. Preity Zinta's English dialogues are only slightly better than the rest of the cast, in which case they sound like recitals. Its a complete Amitabh Bachchan's film.Watch it for him.
