The Help (2011)
Beautiful Film!
12 August 2011
I wish we had more of these! The entire audience was both laughing and crying and often simultaneously. Beautifully shot, great Production Design and the costumes were outstanding, all of which complimented the Oscar level acting. Each character stood out in her own stance and journey in the world. Great Job Guys! Great Writing! Outstanding performances. I hope this sweeps the Oscars! I also commend the author for her persistence in this beautiful story which didn't have the good cop bad cop scenario nor the Driving Miss Daisy veil (great movie but been there done that) or the typical southern man portrayed as the evil, controlling antagonist. Instead there were women; flawed and beautiful, rigid and flowing, mothers and daughters, pure and false friendships. But most importantly a message of giving something to the world, lessons learned from those who suffered the worst of human darkness and having the courage to do so. Kudos to all involved in this beautiful work of art.

A beautiful and complete script!
9 August 2007
I had the pleasure of watching and reviewing this project. It is a tremendously tight story with a fantastic cast and amazingly strong character arcs. Every story corner is covered : a must see when released! A beautiful treasure among a sea of superficial mayhem. Hopefully this will be picked up soon as it's certain to be a crowd pleaser. Ed Radtke continues to grow in his scope of life and what is beyond. I understand he spent many years tweaking and refining this story so that every possible angle and thrust was covered and trust me it shows. Using local talent in New York and a fine crew of enthusiastic professionals who were willing to explore new possibilities in experimental camera work is, in itself, evident in this refreshing and uplifting film. I wish every Hollywood project would contain the integrity that this films exudes. Kudos Ed Radkte!

Masahiro Sugano holds amazing talent!
27 August 2005
An excellent example of an experimental short dense with creative visuals yet simplistic and honorable in story. I hope Sugano continues to write and direct at this level. What stimulating and refreshing work to see! The visuals are crafty, stylistic and amazingly intriguing to look at. So much was said without any dialog. The lead character Hisao Shinagawa, takes us on an imploring journey of his life touching on issues of love, work, pain, history and family. The issues begin separated then bleed together as the film moves forward, incorporating a complete circle of life issues. Everything from the sound (and purposeful lack of) to the editing and performance by Hisao was nothing short of visually compelling and fulfilling.
