Chicago Med: Reunion (2016)
Episode about medical kidnapping
This is completely wrong and happens. Watch Take care of Anya and be careful about going to hospitals with child abuse specialists. I'm so disgusted that this episode took place and made it seem like it was Munchausen by proxy. It's absolutely disgusting. There's a whole website dedicated to children who have been medically kidnapped. Folks with rare or health conditions that aren't as well known about are at risk going to the hospital. This is why parents of complex children are afraid of going to the hospital. I'm a rare disease patient. Even I quickly start to recognize when a doctor doesn't believe me. That would make sense for all of her behaviors that they recorded. It's disgusting that they think it's okay to record children. This stuff really happens. Protect your kids. If medical professionals seem at all like they don't believe you leave before they can get a court order to take your child's custody. The Girl Anya was kept in the hospital for 3 months in a bed. The only reason she got out is because her mother unalived herself to free her daughter.
We Are Visible (2019)
This documentary is incredibly validating
This documentary talks about Ehlers-danlos Syndrome but anyone with a chronic illness can enjoy it. I love that she travels the world to meet different EDS patients from all over. There's one thing we all have in common. We are being failed by the medical and social community. I love that she touched on social services and how they actually cause trauma to our community. Probably, my favorite part was the artist pulling out a hammer to show that she's found ways to still enjoy the things she loves to do.
