Making the Grade (2005)
makes the grade
I've seen this movie at the Silver Wave Festival last year and I was impressed how professional looking this short looked. Jeff has a great comedic presence and carries the character of Ash into being a likable guy, despite sleeping with all of his female teachers to get a better grade. Great looking actresses, but no depth accorded to them as the main focus was how easy Ash seduced each one.
The dialog was a little on the cheesy side but Jeff delivered it so naturally you really believed he just though of saying that! (which is what an actor should strive to do: NOT look like you are acting!)
Some of the crew and Jeff are in a summer feature length shoot. I look forward to see Alex Brewer and Jennifer Chiasson in more IMDb listings.
films like this keep me interested in the short film genre. You can take a few liberties, be more controversial and use it as a platform for bigger and better things.
U (2003)
great for NB !
As the film was shot in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada I've had the opportunity to meet and work with some of the actors of U. Sebastian Maclean as Hannibal was definitely a stand out performance. I've also have the pleasure of working on a set with Nik Mils and being one of the first people to see U. Some of the actors of U have been in local short films and have delivered some top notch acting. I can't say enough about Simon Duval and Angela Cullins as good people and as actors(Keith and Crissy).I've seen their acting evolve and I wish them nothing but the best in their film careers.
Yes it is a low budget film but a testament as to what Atlantic Canadians can do.
