White Collar: Au Revoir (2014)
Classy Ending to a fun show
When I first saw White Collar (1st episode), I literally hated Neal Caffery. What on earth were they thinking? This weird guy, the lame FBI agent, opening with the escape from prison.. Needless to say, by the end of the 1st episode, I couldn't wait for the next. Neal, charismatic, sly and charming as they come, the slickest con man who can also totally rock a suit, finishes this off in style.
Yes, there are places where you have to invoke some major 'Suspension of Disbelief', but that has always been the case with White Collar. SO many questions, leaving you wondering.. When did Mozzie know, for his grief sure was real at the hospital? Why, if Neal did, give this overwhelming evidence to his survival after ONE WHOLE YEAR? (If I were Peter I would want to smack him!- Recall Watson in BBC's Sherlock?) Was that newspaper with the Louvre news a year old or new? When did those strategic posters, photos, notes and clippings on the walls come from when we saw an empty container earlier?
I could go on, but I'll conclude with, this episode was a great ending to this wonderful show, expect all the excitement, fun, smart, cunning and some drama thrown in as well, for a sparkling finish to a brilliant run. Will miss that sexy Neal Caffery smile!
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008)
Lived up to its hype...
Warning! May contain spoilers!
Finally saw it!!! I have been waiting for this for ages.. and i wasn't disappointed. I also haven't re-read the book in ages, so maybe i don't remember it that well, which may be why I liked the film so much, but hey i went there to be entertained, and i was.
The plot stuck to the basic story as far as i could remember, and added a few scenes more. Maybe the Susan-Caspian plot shouldn't have been there, seeing as how we know what happens with Susan later on in the series. In fact, Susan's character was a little different from what I expected, especially after her slightly whiny "mother wouldn't allow this" scenes in LWW, but anyway.. she definitely compensated for not having joined the battle in the first one here. :) I hope they do bring her back in the Last Battle and not leave her where the books did. Come on, she wasn't so bad..
I liked the scenery too, even if they may have been a little "stock travelogue", cos they were pretty awesome on the big screen. Music might have been a little similar to the LWW, but it matched the pace of the movie well. Edmund and Lucy's characters did not have as much screen time as Peter or Susan, but definitely made their presence felt. I loved the scene where the Telmarines stopped short at the sight of Lucy at the bridge!
Peter seemed a little arrogant at first, especially when he leads the Narnians in the failed attack at Miraz's castle, but it was in keeping with the character that was fighting at the beginning of the movie, and he did realize his mistake, as did Susan, especially where Aslan was concerned, so I think that made it OK at the end. And I totally loved the character of Reepicheep, and am looking forward to the next installment!
For Narnia, And for Aslan!
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
People die in this tournament, Harry!
Finally, The fourth Movie! In a word, it was awesome! True, it omitted much of the sub plots of the book, it stuck to the story, though focusing mostly on the triwizard tournament. the special effects were good and especially in the three tasks. though they could have tried to fit in some of the creatures, monsters etc. in the maze, as of all the tasks the third one was the shortest (in film time). the confrontation scene between voldemort and harry was really great, it was the exact copy of jkr's description. and not to forget the yule ball, in which hermione looks fantastic. though i was disappointed by Dumbledore's reaction o Harry's name coming out from the goblet, that is so totally not him as described by jkr. yes, the fourth movie definitely seems to be the best so far,not perfect, but much much better than the 3rd. overall i rate it a 9 , a must watch for harry potter fans.
