I started watching this movie because my 15-year-old sister has a crush on Noah Centineo, after the first 35 minutes or so, she was actually offended and told me that "not even a 16-year-old girl would be dumb enough to use the app". I think that sums it up pretty well.
The movie tries to talk about the modern problems of meeting people and dating apps but the script is, for lack of a better word, lame; it uses all the stereotypes of boys just looking for sex and girls doing whatever it takes to meet boys, problem is it focuses too much on trying to make the narrative clear that it gets lost on itself so of course trying to achieve character growth goes way beyond the script ambitions. Needless to say the acting is bad, not even Noah Centineo can make a decent playboy.
There is not one single thing you can actually say "meh" about this movie, it's all bad, but the worst thing is the script. It's truly sad and pathetic that Ann Deborah Fishman has to make college girls look that dumb for her script to work. The characters have zero growth, even James, who seems the most reasonable one lacks personality and conviction.
The new endeavor of Netflix trying to make their own productions is pretty respectable but this movie goes way beyond the line, they should stick to doing things like Set it Up or To All the Boys I've Loved Before. Quality over quantity.
Don't waste your time, it's not worth it. If I could give it a zero I would...
