Damsel (2024)
6/10
Tired of unrealistic ragers on here.
25 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Literally reviews on here will say how good the costumes, sets, sound, cgi etc are but that one things wasn't great, so they give the movie a 3. A 3!!? I agree the storyline wasn't hard to guess and was predictable, but it's a fairy tail with princesses being sacrificed to a friggin dragon! What are you expecting?! The movie literally opens with the voiceover saying this is a movie where the damsel saves herself, so tells you the ending. Stop being unrealistic with expectations and then scores. I found the movie entertaining, the acting was decent and it was EXACTLY what it promised to be and I expected. 6.5 or 7 is a much more realistic score.

Not bad, but definitely a first of franchise movie.

For those reviewers saying they have no idea what they watched and the plot and backstory weren't explained, you weren't paying attention, perhaps stop using your phone and actually give your full attention to the movie! It is clear what is happening as it unfolds through the story and flashbacks and dialogue. I won't put spoilers, but you really need to pay attention. The one thing I will say is the overall arcing story they do seem to set up isn't fully resolved, and that's why it is very apparent this was a first movie. For a first movie, I found it well acted, plot and set up interesting and am intrigued to have the few questions left unanswered in this movie resolved in a sequel. CGI was decent too. Ignore the bad reviews. Clearly people can't handle having to do a little thinking or paying attention in full with out their phones!

Heart of Stone (I) (2023)

Enjoyable 2 hours

I'm not sure why the rating is as low as it is, its an action spy movie, if you're expecting them to reinvent the wheel, then don't watch it. With this genre of movie I look more for great acting and chemistry between cast, good cinematography and interesting action sequences. Gal Gadot and the cast and crew delivered, I enjoyed myself and think by this point that Gal has more than proven she can carry an action movie. Jamie Dornan and Alia Bhatt did well in their supporting roles, getting a decent enough background set up for their characters, though I felt Gal as the lead, could've had more background for the audience, but perhaps this is the first of more movies and leaving us wanting to know more was intentional so it can be explored further in future features.

Im rating this higher than the 7 or 8 I was planning, to help with the overall score, as it annoys me when people who don't enjoy it, vote a 1 or 2 which is ridiculous for a movie of a decent calibre. They ruin what the score should be for those genuinely interested to know.

Other Viewers weren't paying attention
18 June 2021
Ignore the other viewers. Without giving away anything, other reviews go on about important plot points not being explained or not making sense. Bollocks! They clearly explained, but only with one simple line about what happened and why. But you really need to be paying attention. Clearly the low raters missed those lines and need things explained by characters on screen repeatedly. This movie is actually decent, the acting is excellent, the depiction of humans descending in to sleep depraved madness quite frightening & close to how I'd imagine. The action shots and settings are all done well. I found it a decent movie. Managed to give a full narrative considering it was on a short movie format rather than a series. Reminiscent of a Canadian series that used the same concept of not being able to sleep. I recommend.

TWD for Tweens
16 June 2021
It's taken me a while to get through this whole series. I won't lie, there really were scenes where I had to turn it off and have a break for a few days before re-attempting to watch this, as a scene would make me cringe.

As long as you can accept that this is actually an angsty teen series set in the world of TWD, then you'll be fine to watch this. Once id accepted this fact, I was able to let go of all the anger I had towards its stupid plot points, wordy emotional scenes that were too dramatic to take seriously in context, and nonsensical character actions.

Which was just as well, as there are lots of them.

The idea of the next generations POV in the world of TWD is a great concept, but this series is also actually written for & aimed at that generation. If it is, it's a decent show, if I'm wrong & it's meant to be for the general adult population, it's simply embarrassing.

Some intriguing concepts once you ignore its ridiculousness.
21 March 2020
First off, although I agree this show lacks logic like others have pointed out, it's for different reasons. It's said a blind society wouldn't have such well designed villages, intricate hairstyles, jewellery, outfits and weapons. I find that completely insulting to those without sight. The one thing blind ppl CAN do is anything tactile. Others point out WHY would they style hair or wear jewellry if it can't be seen? Once again, insulting and shows how privilege of sight means they don't understand that world at ALL. Clothes and braids can still be felt. Beads can too, they also make sounds when you move. If this society has been blind for centuries, the unique sound a persons clothes make would make it easy to identify them upon approach! So I dismiss all that nonsense from other reviewers. What I didn't get was things like a scene 3/4 Into the first episode where people standing in a circle each had on different coloured outfits. Now THAT makes no sense. Why dye fabrics particular colours if no one can see? And how did they colour coordinate the whole outfit to be ONE colour? And am I expected to believe coincidence lined them up in alternating coloured outfits in the circle?! No two colours are standing next to one another! And don't get me started on the colour patterns in beads on necklaces. Size, shape, texture, smell and sound of jewellery..or clothes, I understand. But colour patterns!!?? MAKES NO SENSE. Other than giant logic flaws like this, some interesting concepts are raised. Its watchable if you can let go enough. Some won't be able to.

Excellent storytelling.
30 November 2019
Yes the basic plot isn't particularly original, but it the way in which the story is told that has this movie stands out. Movies don't necessarily have to have original plots to be good, they just have to have something about them that is original or intriguing. This movie succeeds with its point of view and tone. It's also unusual to have young children under 10 as the stars in such films and boy does this little star nail her performance. We'll be seeing more of her as she ages I imagine. Worth watching just for her performance alone.

Worth the watch.
25 August 2019
I binged in one sitting. Each comic had their own style and something to offer. I read reviews saying particular comics weren't funny, so was expecting it, only to discover I found them as hilarious as those the same reviewers had liked. So don't believe any one review and watch for yourself. On a side note, wonderful to see not only that Tiffany gave female/female adjacent comics a chance to shine in a male dominated industry, but that these were talented friends of hers where there was always an understanding that if one of them made it, they would throw a rope back to help the others. Not many ppl would actually do that once they've made it and you can see the gratitude. I know it's irrelevant to the comedy being funny/successful, but it brings real heart to the series.
