Sonic Prime (2022)
So my experience of Sonic is..
So my experience of Sonic is having been a fan since the first games, both 90s series (SatAM and that... not so good one), Sonic Underground, Sonic X, the anime movie, Sonic Boom, the comics and of course all the games... You get the point- I'm an absolute nerd but I know Sonic 😆😆
What I love about this new series is you can absolutely tell this was made by other Sonic fans! I've wanted something exactly like this since the SatAM series that abruptly ended and most of us never got over lol.
The voices are slightly jarring, but only because of what we've been used to. I find them fitting and actually love the new energy they bring.
Given I'm in my 30s I probably shouldn't comment on the humor of a show for kids with a Y7 rating lol. But there's enough for the adults to be amused and entertained.
This long time Sonic fan is presently surprised.
Love in the Villa (2022)
Yes, not great..
Strongly disagree with the review referring to the leads as "middle aged." What in the world... How old is the reviewer? Lol.
But-- yes this is not a great one. I can put aside it being formulaic and cliche, given all Netflix romcoms know what they are and still run with it. I knew how I was going to spend my time lol. That said.... He donated her luggage and went through her journal to share with people. How are those supposed to be easily dismissed?! Sure it's for theatrics but I couldn't get passed it and support their pursuit.
There is ONE decent conversation worth hearing that I appreciated about why "destiny" isn't romantic. It's just unfortunate it came from someone like Charlie lol.
Always Be My Maybe (2019)
One of those "on my mind movies" days after
To be honest, the story formula isn't original. However, the cast chemistry, setting and style (think 90s hip hop in Cali), humor, and the abundance of Asian actors (including Keanu Reeves) makes for an enjoyable movie. Had me feeling nostalgic for that puppy love feeling in my teenage years. This is kind of irrelevant, but Mariah Carey's song perfectly fits the story as well. Overall, it's a very sweet movie and worth watching on a Sunday night.
Randall Park rapping is something I didn't know I needed.
