In a Lonely Place (2016)
Fantastic dive into the dark.
Second time around. I noticed the very committed acting and strong use of camera of camera angles. First time I was too horrified/confused/??? To notice anything. Without giving it away just do yourself a favor and see it twice, you will not regret it.
The Florida Project (2017)
Dead Honest
Perfect film. Stereotypes and assumptions abound but the final scene and lines will echo in your mind for years to come, what's the saying " until you've walked a mile in another's shoes..." Take the time to walk with Moonie and her mom. The Magic Kingdom isn't just a place, it's a lingering ideal that casts a shadow we all live in....and no matter how brief that shadow may be, it's affects are long lived. This a movie that will quietly steal your heart. Look beyond the gritty surface, there is REAL magic here.

Excellent - See it Twice.
Let go and give yourself over to Fellini, it's best that way. Fighting for meaning will only result in frustration. Some films need to seep into your dreams to bloom - this is one of those.Give it to your subconscious and let the imagery unfold and reveal the contemplations without the mental gymnastics. This IS a very straight forward film if you let it be and it begs for conversation so see it with someone that will enjoy a few hours of intellectual stretching. Fellini has grown on me but it took the interviews on the Criterion La Strada disc to make that happen. I highly recommend these if you're new to Fellini, they answer some of the questions a first time viewer could fall into without spoiling the films.
All My Friends Are Funeral Singers (2010)
Excellent Little Film
What an excellent little film. So intriguing and captivating. The story is neat, the imagery is curious and the MUSIC is fascinating. It all fits together to form this really unusual experience. This a film everyone should see. I promise even if you hate it you won't forget it. There really are no other films this can be compared to so you'll have to open your mind and let the visuals overtake you. Then let the music envelope you and transport you into the story - this is the only way to really understand. Some say this is a super natural thriller and you could say that but I'd be more inclined to say it's a journey to the place we go when we see backwards from within or that place in between dream and wish. You know the one, now you have a soundtrack for that place. And the things you might find there.
