I was browsing through my HBO On Demand site and came acroos this movie. I had seen it advertised before and at first the idea of watching it did not appeal to me. However, after looking at what was available that day to watch, I thought I would give this movie a chance. I was shocked by what I watched. I was shocked because I had no idea this was such a great movie. I found myself engrossed in this film. It drew me in and had me humming and tapping my feet with every song. There is one special scene to me that I sometime fast forward to when I have some time to watch it in my streaming channel. The scene where PT Barnhum introduces Jenny Lind and she starts to sing. While she is singing, the look on the face of Hugh Jackman is priceless. There is genuine and absolute surprise registered on his face. He looks as if an Angel has appeared and has brought the voice of heaven to this earth. Never Enough, as recorded in the movie, is now part of the playlist of my life. I am so glad I decided that day to finally watch this movie.

Binge watching
25 July 2020
I have the luxury of being able to binge watch this show in Netflix. I am very grateful for this fact. If I had to wait a week to find out how each cliff hanger ending on each episode turned out, I would have literally been in front of my tv all week waiting. I was not sure I was going to like this show because it was a western. I am not really into the genre. However, this is more than a western. It's a human interest story that develops each character. I am very glad to have found this show. I am on season 5 and looking forward to seeing the rest of the shows. I highly recommend watching this show. You will likel become hooked on it.

Formula movie
16 June 2020
This movie really is very unrealistic. Right from the get go the procedures this bunch is really out of touch with reality. The movie requires a person to completely ignore reality. Everything from having a person in the British navy wearing a SEAL trident in their uniform to placing people in situations no special operators would allow themself to be in reality. Not impressed by this movie because it is formula shoot up the bad guys type movie. I lasted about 30 minutes into the movie and turned it off. So predictable and so boring.

To hell with the critics
15 June 2020
I am finding more and more that I do not trust movie critics anymore. I throughly enjoyed this movie. I find that if a movie critic dislikes a movie, it probably means I will feel the opposite. This movie made me laughter out loud. One of the reasons I think I enjoyed this movie more than the critics is this reason. A film critic goes to see a movie to critique it. I go to a movie to enjoy it. This means I allow myself to suspend reality, not care about breaks in timing and don't look for actors to try and win an academy award. I just let the movie play and go where it takes me. This movie takes me to a lot of funny places.

The lamps
12 October 2019
There are some interesting miner's lamps in this movie. The name of these lamps is the Dunlap oil wick cap lamp. They were in use between 1840-1890. I do not recall seeing these type miner's lamps being used in any other movie. The movie itself is enjoyable and worth watching.
