Westworld (2016)
Hate campaign against christianity
I have tried this series long enough. I have watched the entire first seasons and the first 4 episodes of season 3. In a time of so much diversity it shocks me how much this series is a hate campagn towards christianity and christians. It even motivates to hate on Christians and Christianity. I don't support a series who think this kind behaviour is normal. I don't support the cast and crew behind this series who seem to think it's ok to just hate christianity and christians. What a hypocrites!
Legends of Tomorrow: Mr. Parker's Cul-De-Sac (2020)
Too much comedy
Wtf was this, so happy when this season is done. Hope it's gonna go back to seasons 1 and 2 soon
Suicide Squad (2016)
Don't listen to the critics, Screw the haters
Normally I never write reviews for movies, just because I'm not professional and not very good at it. But I did want to share my opinion this time because there were such mixed reactions to the film.
Yesterday this film got it's premiere in my country. And must say my expectations were quite high, to be honest after all those amazing trailers. I'm a fan of DC since CW's the Flash so I'm still kind of new to it all. But this movie is not as bad as the critics say. It is way better than Fantastic Four.Of course this film has flaws, like every film does. The editing in the film, mainly at the start wasn't very good. When the film continued it got a little better, but it could have been much better. Sometimes the story is a little bit of a chaos but not very much.. It still has a great story, and the director did a solid job of telling the story although it was a little bit of a chaos. The performances in the film was the best thing about it. Everyone did such an amazing job and were so close to there characters from the comics. Though Jared Leto isn't really my joker, he had his good moments. Personally I loved Margot Robbie's performance the most in the film. She really was so good playing Harley Quinn and I really want to see more of her in the DCEU.
Overall I think this movie was very good, very enjoyable. I was one of the fans who liked Man of Steel and BVS, but Suicide Squad is certainly better than BvS and certainly as good as Man of Steel. I rate this film 7/10
Ant-Man (2015)
Ant Man
ANT MAN: Scott Lang is a criminal and has been in prison for robbery but he wants to make his life better because of his daughter. Ones he is free he gets in touch with Dr. Hank Pym and he wants Scott to help him to protect the secret behind his Ant Man suit. Some dangerous people are behind it only to use it themselves. Hank Pym and Scott Lang must make a plan to defend the world.
I admit to , that I was not very excited for this film , not at all. But this is the kind of film you must first see before you judge. Peyton Reed did an excellent by creating how the world looks like when your small. Those scenes were filmed beautifully. Also I think he did an acceptable job on the script. Some people might disagree with it because they read the comics and now the original story, but he actually made it his own and he did a great job on that.
My opinion always was that Marvel Cinematic Universe did not gave much Female Superheroes, like d c Comic. So I was very glad with the character of Hope which is just an amazing character, maybe my favorite on MCU. Though I understand the pity of the die-heart fans who waited for the really Wasp. But on the other side it might be good sometimes to, as a filmmaker , make a movie your own. And that is what Peyton Reed did. What I didn't particularly like was the jokes – some were great like the train coming out of the house and the tank out of the building. But I didn't like the character of Luis at all he was rather annoying than funny.
Also it was good to see Agent Carter en Howard Stark in it, because than the story feels more a part of it. It was great seeing them. I give this film 8 out of 10.
My Boy Jack (2007)
My Boy Jack
My Boy Jack is a TV film about Jack Kipling centered in the first world war. Rudyard Kipling is an author and father of Jack. The world is in war in Germany. And Rudyard fears for an attack on Great Britain. His opinion is that every young healthy man in Britain should offer himself up for the army. He even commands his own son to do that first as a medical function in the army. But Jack has bad eyes and has glasses so they don't take him in at first. But after much effort Jacks decides he wants to fight in the army – after much work and effort he makes it and grows in the ranks. But will Jack be save home again ? His mother and sister are in worried and search him when he is missing.
Brian Kirk is the Director of the TV film , nowadays known for series as Game of Thrones and Penny Dreadful. Brian Kirk did such an excellent job on camera movement and bringing all the emotions to the screen that were needed in the exact amount. Though the battleground could've improved more , you only saw what happened behind the walls where the soldiers were save. You heard the bombs everywhere, but you saw nothing really happening until at the end of the film.
The performance of the cast was fantastic, especially Dan Radcliffe and David Haig gave such an outstanding performance. So real and so believable like you had the feeling those characters could have really lived during the war. Dan Radcliffe again shows why he is one of the greatest actors at the moment bringing his character to the small screen so likable and in such an emotional way.
This film is so beautiful and that you desperately want to watch it again. You want a good ending , you want Jack to make it save home. Such an beautiful script. I give this film 8 out of 10, fantastic! Recommend to every fan of war and/or drama films.
Boardwalk Empire (2010)
The Roaring 20's back on Boardwalk Empire
Boardwalk Empire REVIEW
Boardwalk Empire is a period drama about America in the roaring 20's. The TV Show includes some characters based on real historical people and some fictional characters. When alcohol becomes illegal in 1920 it means the rise of many crime organizations in the USA. The story focuses on one particular character Enoch "Nucky" Thompson who is the treasurer of Atlantic City, but in effect controls the region ( Atlantic County , New Jersey) as a political boss. He leads a double life as a gangster. Nucky acts with historical characters in both his personal and political life including mobsters , politicians , government agents and the Common folk who look up to him.
As I am researching Al Capone since 2012 I was very interested in this TV show and actually started to watch it not earlier than 2014. Very late , and that was mainly because of my fear that Al would be portrayed not the way I hoped it would be. In my opinion Al has to be portrayed as human and not a monster. Al loved his family – his son , his wife , his brother and sisters and his parents. He was a really family man but was also a gangsters who killed all his enemies and rose to power. Stephen Graham is fantastic as Al and I loved watching him play that part. I think Stephen Graham really shows how the real Al Capone was like ,without all the rumors and myths. I don't think there is one actor who could have played Al better than Stephen Graham. The whole casting did such an impressive job by getting to live the 1920's again. Their outstanding performance really helped to bring the audience to the 1920's and see this time realistically on screen. Their performances also helped to make the characters likable over the seasons. When the series comes to a close in season 5 you really develop a liking for the characters on the show , and that is all thanks to the great casting. I personally loved Steve Buscemi , Stephen Graham & Vincent Piazza the most.
The script of the story was beautiful, you really see the characters develop and also the story itself. It is beautiful to watch as an audience. It is like the script is written in the 1920's because it is so realistic. You really get a good view on how things were going in those days. This TV Series I give a 9 out of 10.
Chaplin (1992)
Downey Jr. isn't playing Chaplin but is Chaplin
Chaplin is a film from 1992 and directed by the legendary filmmaker Lord Richard Attenborough and in the lead role Robert Downey Jr. The film is a real drama and biography to one of the greatest actors the world has ever known. Charlie Chaplin. Not only the film focuses on his work as actor and Director but also his personal life.
To play such an iconic figure who has meant so much for the Film industry as it is today , you need a really actor. An actor who can bring this person on screen as it should be done. And I think Robert Downey Jr. really did a great job on playing Charlie Chaplin. He did such a great performance and showed all the different sides that Charlie Chaplin had on screen. He just did an excellent job and beautiful. His performance was what this film made so fantastic. Another great thing was the script. They did outstanding work on that because you need to have Charlie Chaplin-like humor in a film like this. The story in the film is build up on a very beautiful way from Charlie's childhood years were it all began for him until his final days until the moment he almost dies. Something I liked was that the old Charlie sometimes looks back and tells what happened and we see that happen in the film.
This film is really great and to everybody who wants to know more about film or actors or filmmakers I recommend this film. I rate this film 9/10
The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death (2014)
A great sequel and a great Ghost story
The Woman in Black : Angel of Death is the sequel film to the Woman in Black (2012). This second film is about Eve Parkins who lives in England in the middle of the second world war. Eve and Mrs.Hogg must help a group of children to be safe during this dark times and there is one place where they can be safe. Eel Marsh House. And as soon as they arrive there and settle themselves there , it is clear that the house has another visitor.
Before I start writing this review I wanted to make clear that there clearly is a difference between American Horror and British horror. American Horror is meant to – for 120 minutes only scare the audience as much as possible, without focus on the story itself. Then you have a British horror which puts the focus much more on the story behind it and develops characters- their trauma's during the story. British horror is much more a psychological/supernatural kind of horror. And then it is up to you what kind of horror you like. And as a huge part of the world is American it doesn't surprise me that this film get negative responses. But really this film is much better than what you have seen with Insidious, Sinister or the Conjuring last years. So now finally the review and I can't say anything bad about it. To start with the performance of the casting. Adrian Rawlins , Phoebe Fox & Helen McCrory deliver an amazing performance in this film. They truly bring their characters amazing to the screen and with so much dept. Throughout seeing this film you really see their characters develop and they did a great job bringing that to the screen.
The nice thing about this second film is that Marco Beltrami returned as Composer for this film. In the first film he already did a great job making a soundtracks that fits for the story and for the film. And that same soundtrack came back and that was great because you immediately had the feeling you are watching a film of the same story. It was nice that the second film started with this soundtrack.
Well what to see about Tom Harper, the Director of this film. He hasn't made so many films yet so it maybe was a risk to let him do the job. They could've better asked a different British director like ; David Yates or they should have James Watkins return. But Tom Harper did it and I think it with success. For someone who just starts as Director he did an alright job. His Camera work is so great because he moves the camera through the house like you are watching through the eyes of The Woman in Black. It gives a really haunted feeling to it and also a bit scary. The color of the film is just fantastic; they really chose the perfect color for the film. The exact darkness it needs, just perfect for the film and for the story.
The thing that could have been done better were the dialogue's because you can say more when you are in a haunted house than " Hello".
So after these point I should give a rating for this film. This film is just a good sequel and exactly as it should have been done. It is a perfect movie after the first one. I really have annoyed myself very, very much about all the responses of people around the world who hated this film. And keep looking at this film as a Horror movie or an American horror. Yes the movie is partly Horror although I'd like to use the word Paranormal. But this film is also a drama and thriller and a psychological thriller. So I guess Haters Gonna Hate- I'll buy him on Blu-Ray and will wait and keep hope for a third visit to Eel Marsh House. From the start I've felt an connection to this story and the characters. If they won't gonna make a third film than at last I can say that it is for me one of the most amazing Film Franchises Ever.
I rate this film 9/10
Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014)
Goobye Night at the Museum & Robin Williams.
Night at the Museum 3 : The Secret of the Tomb.
Larry Daley comes back to screen a third time in Night at the Museum 3 : The Secret of the Tomb. The film starts off with a look a couple of decades back. Where investigators find a tablet in Egypt. Back in New York a grant re-opening is taking place but everything is not going as it should be going. People enjoy of the museum pieces coming to live, but after a while they start act weird. After this night Larry starts to talk about it with the museum pieces. But they don't know what happened. But Larry is going to do research and soon finds out he's running out of time. There are not many hours left before it all- all the magic may disappear forever.
Before you'll go to see the movie you'll expect to see the same jokes coming back. But after having seen the film you can see that not only old jokes are in the movie again. Also new jokes are included. 3 is totally different, I you look at the script and the story than the previous film. Every single film stands on it's own, but it every time it is funny. You never get bored of these films. And number 3 proves that. I think they that a very great job on character development in this film, you get to know characters much better. And that is what makes the film great.
Actors gave a great performance especially Robin Williams , Ben Stiller and Ricky Gervais were totally amazing and absolutely hilarious. What makes this film great as well is the meaning of the film. This film was always going to be about saying Goodbye and they dealt with that on a really beautiful way. Robin Williams is in this last part of the film absolutely amazing. He brings his final lines over on screen so beautiful, so with emotion that it hits you right in the heart.
Number 3 is a good goodbye to an amazing and very successful Film Franchise. And a very good last film of Robin Williams. There is emotion in this film but also many laughs and that balance makes this film great. If you liked the first movie and maybe the second than you certainly love this one. There is a great acting performance of the Casting , except Rebel Wilson really didn't like her. The final story is wonderful. This film is really for all ages. In my opinion they could have given Laaa less playtime. He was really annoying and not funny at all. Having said all of this I'd give this film a 7 out of 10.
Paddington (2014)
A film for all ages
Paddington (2014) tells the classic story that so many people grow up with. When a bear arrives in London after some terrible events in Peru he needs to seek a new home in London. When he arrives at a train station in London he meets a family, and they take Paddington into their family. First it creates problems and a women is behind Paddington.
Wonderful, it really was. I used to be one of those kids who grow up watching Paddington on TV. And when you are making a movie of such a classic tale you need great actors to bring it over on screen faithfully. Julie Walters , Michael Gambon , Imelda Staunton, Sally Hawkins and Ben Wishaw Etc. You just have a wonderful casting. A group of excellent actors and actresses who brought their characters wonderfully to the screen. Personally I was really impressed by the performance of Ben Whishaw as the voice of Paddington, but also Samuel Joshlin and Madeleine Harris were excellent as the children of the family. They gave a wonderful performance.
When making a film of something like Paddington you have so many choices how to make this film. But I think Paul King as Director did a wonderful job writing the story and directing the film. The script was beautiful with a great character development. The conversations between the characters are also beautifully written. This film is made exactly as it should have been. I hope Paddington will win the Award they are nominated for at BAFTA. They really deserved to win something. I was also happy to see something of David Heyman again because he's truly one of my childhood heroes and an amazing producer. When others say Stephen Spielberg I say David Heyman. Look forward to see more of him! Well now rating this film is great fun to do. Looking at the performances of the cast and the wonderful script and the beautiful special effects. Like always Nick Dudman did again an excellent job Bafta Award-worthy. I say 9 out of 10. Beautiful, warm, colorful and truly a film for all ages. This movie makes you love Paddington
Horns (2013)
Daniel Radcliffe's best performance yet
Horns is a Horror/mystery/comedy film about Ig Perrish who's a suspect of the murder of his girlfriend Merrin. The whole town wants him to spend in jail for the rest of his life. But Ig doesn't know anything about the things that everybody is saying against him. Now Ig is a mess but all of a sudden he seems to get a little help. After a night of drinking Ig wakes up and suddenly is in the possession of Horns coming out of his head but also a power to find out who really killed his girlfriend.
Daniel Radcliffe, well-known for his role as Harry Potter, is starring as the main character. He's been doing already quite a lot of stuff but surprisingly still he can't convince some people. Which is a pity. He's been doing a fantastic job in this film and I am under the impression that this could be his best performance in his career. I was really impressed! People should start putting the I-Hate-Daniel-Radcliffe glasses off because he honestly has done an outstanding job and should deserve an award for this. Also, Juno Temple was great her scenes with Daniel Radcliffe really worked.
Going to the special effects I was less satisfied. First of all, from the moment they started using CGI I was immediately , maybe, 90% against it. Because mostly you don't get the result you actually wants. So coming to this film you saw again that the CGI was terrible. It just too Computer-ish.
I think script was quite a mess. There were some story lines under-developed and then it becomes a difficult to understand the story for the audience. So they did not a great job on the script of the film. How they dealt with the flashback moments, or the things happened in the past, was well done But that was maybe the only good thing of the script. Also, I wasn't happy with the ending because wouldn't it have been nice to see Ig recover after the last battle and go on with his live, keeping the letter of Merrin in mind. I would have liked that development of character. The loneliness , he will always be.
The story is just really beautiful, if you look past the bad script. I should advice people to read the book because it may show you how excellent the story is written. So the story itself and the outstanding performances of Daniel Radcliffe and Juno Temple were great. And so I decide to give this film the following rating. Which is 6 out 10.
Life After Beth (2014)
Great Acting Of Dane dehaan and Aubrey Plaza
Life After Beth is a Comedy/ Drama/Horror film about Zach Orfman ( Dane Dehaan) who just lost his girlfriend Beth (Aubrey Plaza) . He spends a lot of time at Beth's parent and finds it difficult to accept that Beth isn't alive anymore. But when all of a sudden the parents don't answer the phone anymore and don't let Zach in anymore he is starting get frustrated. He keeps coming and suddenly sees Beth walking in the house. That leaves Zach with a lot of questions and Beth's father is letting him now ad tries to explain. Beth has been resurrected but she can't know, Zach must find a way to deal with this. And tries to solve the problem.
While this film is mainly meant as a Comedy there are also so much emotional scenes included. The scenes between Dane Dehaan and Aubrey Plaza are amazing. They deliver an fantastic job and give a great performance which helps the audience help to understand their characters. The scenes between them are very funny and they bring that over fantastic. Further casting deliver an acceptable job doing their role but Dane Dehaan and Aubrey Plaza deliver definitely the best performance.
I think this script has been written really great. There are some romantically moment, some Dramatic moments for the main character, but also there are lots of Comedy moments. The story has been written beautifully and the characters are developed on screen really great.
The thing about the film which I disliked was when more Zombies came you really didn't see them doing anything particular. There were no moments of action scenes, you didn't see them attack. And it took really long before they suddenly knew how to kill them. You, also, never saw them find out how to kill a Zombie, they just suddenly knew. While there was a moment in the film were Zach had to visit someone finding out what happened. But he never heard how to kill them, they never explained how to kill it- they just suddenly knew. Also I wasn't happy with the ending because Zach should never be able to love someone so soon already. Because he still loved Beth so much.
Rating this film was quite difficult but I think give the rating : 6/10. Dane dehaan and Aubrey Plaza's performance helped to make this film great to watch. The comedy moments were also really funny but there were a few things which I disliked about the film. And that was all the reason for this rating.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)
Wonderful prequel to Lord of the Rings
The Hobbit an Unexpected Journey
60 years before the adventures of the Lord of the Rings it is the first time, in the Shire, Bilbo meets Gandalf. Bilbo than a young man is having a regular Hobbit life, mostly in love with his books and his armchair. But When Gandalf comes into his life things are going to change when he ask him to go on a quest. Bilbo is absolutely not interested but Gandalf won't give up. Gandalf arrives again at Bilbo's house with a big group of dwarfs. They come to talk about the quest but mostly persuading Bilbo to go with them on the quest. A quest to reclaim the homeland of the dwarfs. After a long time Bilbo decides to go and his life will be changed forever when is going on a life changing journey.
As complicated as the books are the filmmakers had to make choices in order to make a good film based on the Middle earth universe. And it is obvious that in the Hobbit director Peter Jackson already dared to put more his own turn into the script. And that was something he did in the Lord of the Rings series, there he was constant faithful to the material. In the Hobbit there are things you don't find in the books. That is a very tricky decision and not every fan will like that. Some decisions are not so good while others were. Having said that; The story of this first film is great. You already see a great character development in the first film and the film is very excited and it keeps you watching it. Constantly there is happening something excited or fun. It is just a great first-prequel-film to the Lord of the Rings. Peter Jackson proved with the Lord of the Rings that he was great in casting his characters on screen. With actors as Christopher Lee, Ian McKellen and Cate Blanchett you are just having an amazing cast, maybe the perfect cast. So there was never a need for the fans to worry, Martin Freeman (playing Bilbo) proves that. He does a beautiful job playing the main character. Doing the more emotional scenes saying his heroic lines but also he plays his role on a very funny way, exactly the way Bilbo should be portrayed. Apart from Martin Freeman I think all the dwarfs did an amazing job bringing all these characters to screen. They are not a bunch of dwarfs but they all have their own personalities and they brought that over beautifully , very funny but sometimes also on a very emotional way.
I rate this film 8 out of 10 it was just really great watching and everything seemed to make sense. The fans can be proud of this first prequel film and should be proud of the result. My compliments for the cast and crew!
Orphan (2009)
Wonderful thriller with an outstanding Performance from the Cast
Orphan
Kate and John have two children and are a happy family but their wish for having another child goes wrong. Because the third child, named Jessica is dying before it is born. When time pass Kate realizes she still wants a third child but she wants to adopt it. When Kate and John decide to do that they meet Esther a 9-year old girl from Russia and she is an orphan. When they first meet her there seems to be an connection between Esther and Kate and John and they decide to adopt her. But what happens in coming weeks they could never expect. When they discover that Esther totally someone else that she claims to be things are going terribly wrong.
It is not very often, that you see young actors or actresses on a very young age with very much acting skills. Isabelle Fuhrman is one of those young actresses who can. In this film she delivers an outstanding performance of a girl who is not who she claims to be. She is actually playing two roles. One role is an innocent girl who has lost so much and everything seems to be against her, so she is in the beginning very likable. But the other role is the murderer she actually is. Then there is the fact that she is no 9-year old girl at all but a mid 30- year old women. And delivering a performance like this is outstanding. The film includes good character development and the issues all the characters have are represented very good on screen.
I think this film is such a wonderful thriller and it actually tells me that you should never trust someone to easy. But the problem I had with the film was the ending. Because what happened with Kate and John's son Daniel ? has he made it or did he die ? What happened to Kate after the accident, because of John's death ? these answers were never answered and I think they should have ended with this, now it was a more open ending and it gives the audience the idea that it is not over yet. I give this film the following rating because of the strong script, and the wonderful acting.
7/10.
The Legend of Korra (2012)
The Avatar is back!
Legend of Korra : Avatar ; The Legend of Korra is a sequel to the very popular Avatar ; The Legend of Aang series. It is seventy years since Aang and his friends stopped the war. But now the days of Avatar Aang are passed and the Avatar has returned again, a new Avatar who must keep the balance in the world. This time it is a girl named Korra and she is from the Water tribe. She is very hot-headed and rebellious and very reckless at the start of the series. The world has changed very much in seventy years and as Korra can bend now 3 of the 4 elements she is to learn the element what is left; Air. That brings her to Republic City and very soon she discovers that being the Avatar is a lot different than she always expected. Very soon she is faced with the dangers of the world today.
Back in 2005 I wasn't very much aware of Avatar yet , but I knew that at school it was pretty popular and so I decided to watch it. And as the years passed I fell in love with. I felt really connected to the Avatar world, the characters and the story was brilliant. That only became stronger when the years passed. I was really, really sad when it ended in 2008 but somehow I could easily accept it. I admit that I was a little cynical towards the Legend of Korra when it was announced and it took my a few years before watching it. And I didn't immediately had this connection to Legend of Korra compared to what I had with Legend of Aang because I really missed Aang and Zuko and Iroh just everybody.
So Legend of Korra has this quality of the old days are over, which makes it quite sad to watch it. The story is really great- like in the old series there such strong dialog's between the characters, the development of the friendships between the heroes are written beautifully. As an audience you see how strong of a bond team Avatar has. The great thing was also, it was more mature. Korra is older than Aang was in those days and so they have to deal with the problems of love more. There are also more political theme's and this all makes the story different than Legend of Aang. Which is good because it never gets boring. They always bring new things in and you can never expect certain things to happen. And if they keep able to do that, then why should you stop making story's in the Avatar world ? Every Avatar has his own story, his own background and his own problem in life, for an audience this can never get bored. So I hope in a couple of years the makers of this fantastic world will go on with it.
Of course as a fan you can never be satisfied enough. And personally as the big Fire Nation fan I am I was mainly disappointed with seeing not enough of the fire nation. Though on the other hand I liked it that they don't want to interfere with the battles Korra had to face. The explanation of Fire Lady Izumi is fantastic! And I see so much opportunity's to develop the story of Izumi and her son. Another thing is that I think Korra is not a very good Avatar. If you look at it , honestly, she loses so much battles. I don't say She is the worst Avatar because there is none. Every Avatar did great things.
The music is fantastic and the casting is again amazing, if you get names as J.K.Simmons your doing a great job. So looking at these points it is fair to give the following rating to : The Legend of Korra, which is a 7 out of 10. Thanks so much Michael Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko, and hopefully you'll decided to go on within the Avatar Universe. Because the fandom will never lose hope- we will always hope and believe that the Avatar will return.
The F Word (2013)
Outstanding performance of Daniel Radcliffe
What If is a romantic comedy starring Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan. Wallace lives on the attic in the house of his sister and seems to have a boring life. He has not much luck with love until he meets Chantry a beautiful young women. A bond grows between the two, at first they are just friends at least that is what Chantry expects. Because as soon as Wallace meets he falls in love with here and keeps hoping for more. But Wallace keeps finding himself in a difficult situation when she appears to have a boyfriend.
Personally Romantic-Comedy's are not the type of films I'd go to on a Friday Night or I'd watch on a Saturday evening. I'm just this huge Daniel Radcliffe fan since 2001 who have seen all his films. But he delivers this outstanding performance once again as this ordinary , silly guy named Wallace. He does it fantastic, and he is really, really funny. This film proves again that Daniel Radcliffe is so talented. It wasn't luck that he starred in all those films and got the opportunity to be an actor. He is one of the most talented young actors we have these days. It was not only Daniel Radcliffe's performance is loved but also Zoe Kazan did an fantastic job.
The storyline, the script, of the film is really brilliant. The film really develops to the point where both main characters have to make a decision. What should they do with this bond they have ? And the film develops to that moment brilliantly. There is a lot of good comedy in the film, and they brought that over fantastic. The character development was I think alright but dialogs could have been better sometimes. What I missed was the clumsy side of Wallace, because I think he was really clumsy. They should have done more with it in the SCRIPT.
I rate this film 7/10 ; great performances great development.
Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005)
Best Kids TV Show!
Avatar The Legend of Aang is about a 12 year old boy who after 100 years is discovered in an Iceberg by his new friends Sokka and Katara. In this Avatar world people are able to use a special form of fighting; some people can bend the elements, but the Avatar can bend all the elements. The world is now 100 years in war and for 100 years the Avatar has been missing. People are afraid that the Avatar never reincarnated to his next life because the airbenders are all gone. But soon it is Aang who appears to be the Avatar and only he can stop the on-going war which has taken many lives. But first he has to learn the other elements; water, earth and fire. He already is a good airbender.
On the Avatar the Legend of Aang a lot of people worked on the script. But the story lines included in the episodes were always leading to something. Every character always had his own journey throughout the series and the writers developed those characters wonderful. Every episode is different but at the end ever storyline is leading to the same point. So – also the script was developed fantastic! With an animation TV show it is always much easier to cast somebody for a character than in Live Action. But Mako Iwamatsu and Dante Basco did such an fantastic job giving Iroh and Zuko a voice. Their voiced just suited so well with the character it is fantastic to listen to.
I rate avatar 8/10. The Legend of Korra can never be better than The legend of Aang. It is important that people understand that. Korra was a good sequel but plot wise ATLA is much better. Also ATLA was the beginning and for that is always better than a sequel.
Interstellar (2014)
Wonderful Script!
Interstellar is about a group of explorers who are looking for a new world because earth will soon be unlivable. Cooper is living at the start of the story in one house with his son, daughter and father-in-law. When Cooper accepts the offer of Professor Brand to join the explorers for the world, his ten year old daughter Murph doesn't want him to go. But Cooper decides to go and it becomes a battle against time and the search for a new world.
To start with the script; Jonathan and Christopher Nolan both did an fantastic job writing this story on screen. There are, included, really strong dialogues between the characters and they really develop throughout the story. There are so many different story lines in this film but everything single thing happens for a reason- and for everything is an explanation at the end. The story is really complicated but very well developed. The film is really long as most Christopher Nolan film but this one was not so long that you might lose your interest in the film. He plot is interesting and keeps you into the story.
Looking at the casting everybody did an acceptable job. I was not very convinced about how Matthew McConaughey filled in his role but MacKenzie Foy, and Michael Caine were brilliant! They really convinced me.
In a Sci/Fi movie special effects are , especially, really important and Interstellar made us of it brilliantly. When they get in space and when action is taking place it just looks like you're watching documentary it just looks so real, like your really there. That was a wonderful cinematic experience which I haven't seen any more since Gravity. Now I'm not going to compare both movies because they are both fantastic and an ingenious historical masterpiece.
I rate this film 9/10.
Fury (2014)
Great War Movie
Fury tells the story around a few soldiers in the second world war. It is April 1945 when the film starts. When Norman Ellison , a teenage boy not fit for war, joins the army his life will be changed forever. He has studied for a secretary but he must turn in an soldier. The tank he'll be spending time as soldier includes a couple of soldiers who just lost a good friend in their tank. Norman has to replace him. he must turn into a soldier.
Personally it's very rare when I watch a war movie simply because it's not really my genre. But still there were many things in this film that made the movie great to watch.
To start with the cast. Logan Lerman never truly convinced me but this is really one of his best films he has been in yet. He plays the role with an insecurity and a vulnerability but it is wonderful to see how he plays the transformation of his character to the end of the story. Brad Pitt delivered a wonderful performance as the leader of the tank. He also plays the role good as a leader to Norman.
The script is really great, some characters really change or develop throughout the film. It is so nice, also, to see their friendship develop in the film.
I give this film 7/10 for the great acting and script. And not to forget the special effects where used brilliantly.
Ouija (2014)
Lot of opportunities with a theme as Ouija
Ouija is a movie based on the famous Ouija Board "game". When Laine Morris discovers the death of her best friend Debbie she is going to visit the house. In the house she finds a board. An Ouija Board. She and her friends still can't believe why Debbie died. Laine will try to convince her friends to use this board to contact Debbie because she can't let her go yet. When she convinced her friends she is going to play at the house where Debbie died. And when they start playing they think they are connected with Debbie. But later on they figured out they were tricked on connected to an evil spirit.
A lot of bad reviews have been written already about these film which I partly understood. When you make a film about the famous game Ouija than you have a lot of opportunities with it. This film however never really took those opportunity's. The problem with this film only is the script and part of the actors.
The first part of the film- before the break- wasn't so bad when you just look at the storyline. It started interesting with this girl who lost her best friend because of the game. And she wants to know what really happens. That is in fact what they wanted to achieve in the beginning of this film. But after the break we get to see walking skeletons which I didn't like at all. But the biggest problem was, I think, was that the evil spirit who was behind these kids changed too many times. Firstly they said it was " The Mother" and later it was her child. And that was the problem because you have to keep the audience watching, they have to stay interested throughout the whole film. And with these changes in the film it didn't make it really good. Though, of course the background story of the family who ones lived there was good. It gave a sort of development to the story which we hadn't seen in the film yet. But it was used in a wrong way.
I always love to see when young unexperienced get a chance to prove themselves. And sometimes you see they do incredible things sometimes on a very young age. But sometimes it makes you hate the film because the choice of casting wasn't good. In this film I've seen three people in the casting who did a good job as playing their character. I loved the performance of Olivia Cooke, she shows in this film that she can play the lead role very good. Maybe one of the few things that were good about the film. I also liked the performance of Shelley Hennig who played Debbie, I think she did a good job playing a character who was so excited about this game and just didn't saw the danger of it. It was very nice to see Lin Shaye in this film as a very different character as she does in Insidious. I liked her performance. But the remaining cast didn't really convinced me very well.
This film has scary moments but actually during the whole film and it is sometimes the same scary moment as they used earlier in the film, which makes it sometimes predictable. I rate this film 4/10; Olivia Cooke, Shelley Hennig and Lin Shaye saved this film from a lower rate, their performance was great. But the beginning of the film was just good- it started really well. Though
The Judge (2014)
Oscar winning stuff of Downey JR & Duvall
The Judge is a drama film about lawyer Hank Palmer who has no contact with his parents. But when he gets a phone call from his brother and hears His mother died things change. After many years he has to come back home to bury his mother. But when he gets home and also see his brother again things are going to have a dark turn, when his father is suspected for murder. And Hanks is going to be his lawyer. There are a lot of different story lines throughout the film which makes it very interesting to watch.
Robert Downey Jr. & Robert Duvall are absolutely brilliant in this film. As father and son they had a lot of scenes together and their performance were both outstanding. Personally I also like Vera Farmiga and Leighton Meester very much. But what Downey Jr and Duvall showed in this film was Oscar deserving stuff.
The strong point about this film were all the story lines packed in one movie. That can turn about bad but in this film it all worked. All those story lines came together in the end, it all fit so well. I think all those different story lines made it so great. I give this film 8/10 just because of the great acting and the very strong screenplay/storyline in the film. This movie should win many BAFTA's and Oscar's.
The Santa Clause (1994)
A true magical experience for children and adults
Scott Calvin is played by Tim Allen in the Santa Claus films and he does that on a really classic and unforgettable way. The Santa Clause is about Scott Calvin who is a divorced business man and happens to be not very good at being father. The relationship with his son isn't very good but they have to spend Christmas together. But when Scott kills Santa accidentally everything is going to change for him.
A lot of Christmas films have been made and a lot of times the role of Santa has been played but nobody ever captured that role as Time Allen did. He did very remarkable and very unforgettable job playing him. His acting is what makes this film partly so successful I think but also the scenes he has with his son on screen Eric Lloyd. The scenes between them father and Son are filmed really strong and is what makes the film good as well. For me Tim Allen will always be "Santa" it was a tradition for me at home to watch the Santa Claus films with the whole family on TV at Christmas every year. And I think it can truly be mentioned as one of the greatest Christmas films ever made.
Of course with a Christmas movie you always wait for that special magical thing to happen. And the story really develops to that moment. When you, as an audience, see the home of Santa with the Elfs it gives you really as an adult a happy feeling. It truly has something magical and it doesn't get boring with every movie. I rate this film 8 out of 10; The story has been told brilliantly on screen, the performance of Tim Allen and Eric Lloyd was wonderful.
A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014)
Liam Neeson in A Walk Among The Tombstones
Matt Scudders is the main character in A Walk Among The Tombstones. This film is a Crime/ Thriller movie and it keeps you on the edge of your chair. Matt Scudders is a Private detective who once was a very good cop. But because of a terrible accident he quit. Now as a private detective he has been asked for a case including the disappearance and death of a young women, firstly he doesn't want but later he accepts the case. And it brings him on a journey he never experienced ever before and it is bigger than he would ever think. As audience when you think you are on the right track constantly it appears to be that you were not on the right track.
Liam Neeson gives a very great performance as Matt Scudders, he plays the role like he always has been this character. The bond which Matt Scudders has with TJ a teenage boy he meets is beautifully filmed. Those scenes; between Matt and TJ I enjoyed the most.
It is a great crime thriller movie very unpredictable and the suspense is high until the end. I give this film a 7/10 because: The story was told so great on screen and Liam Neeson did a great job!
Dracula Untold (2014)
Luke Evans as Vlad Dracula
Dracula Untold tells the classic story of Vlad during the battle with the Turkish. Comparing to other Dracula films this one takes place earlier in the Dracula time line and focuses much more on the battle between the Turkish and him. But also it is more focused on how he became a vampire. If you have seen a couple of Dracula films or know the story than you expect some things that will certainly happen.
Luke Evans had a very hard job on performing such an iconic character. He plays a characters which was done so many times by very great actors as Gary Oldman and Christopher Lee. Yet you can see that he approached the role on his own way. He plays a vulnerable man ; he cares about his family and only wants peace. but he also plays the character with a madness once he's the monster and as the Impaler. He performed this role really well the audience felt the pain that Vlad had to carry. Luke Evans did a wonderful job playing him.
Sometimes I think the Special Effects were not very great. The look of the Vampire in the cave was so bad. It was like I saw someone doing a parody of Lord Voldemort. They could have done a better job on that, a better cross between human and the monster he is. But the fight scenes were filmed really great which was really interesting to watch.
There were too things that weren't necessary to include in the film. That was one; he is The Impaler but I wanted to see that filmed scarier. You really have to be afraid for what Dracula is capable of. It was too easy, like it was just this habit of him. I wanted to see more time on that part when he does that. And the thing I hated was that he lived in the future. Why showing that ? That wasn't the point of the film at all. It wasn't necessary, I preferred that cut out.
Seeing all these point together I'd give this film 5/10 it wasn't extremely bad but also not extremely good. Luke Evans did an all-right performance and the story was nice to see in a film again, told in a different way, that's why 5 out of 10. Gary Oldman will for me always be the best Dracula.
Noah (2014)
Acceptable as a film
When a film company decides to make a film about themes very much about the Bible than that is a tricky thing to do. You have to be not only as film company but most certainly as Director sure about where you are beginning with. It is very controversial; many people will like it as a movie but some people will not like it because they are not an atheist.
Personally I believe in God, but I also am a movie addict, and a huge fan of Harry Potter. First of all I think it must be possible to like what you want without other saying it can't because...Also I went to this film because it was an interesting theme to see on screen. I didn't watch it so I could say : "Oh this didn't happen in the bible". I can't agree more with the Director to add these giants in the film. As a filmmaker part of your job is that audience will see the whole film. It must continually be interesting. And that was the reason of the giants and it was a great choice.
I think the storyline was well written there were good relationships between those characters and there was done a great job on telling the story. Which is something very important in not only a movie but certainly in a movie like this. The audience must get this connection this special moment when they watch a film. Looking at the storyline it worked. I liked the moments of the snake and the apple Etc. they solved that "problem" on a good way.
Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly has done a wonderful performance in this film. The whole casting really did their best to deliver a job that would deliver a sort of truth to the story. They respected the story and it was great to see their amazing performance.
I rate this film 6/10 because of the great performance of the actors.
