Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Great Movie
I do not understand the amount of animosity directed at this film. I agree with many, that episodes 1 and 2 were a letdown, but Lucas has come back in fine form this time around. In my opinion, this is the best one since The Empire Strikes Back (though Jedi comes pretty close). My only gripe is some wooden dialog here and there, and overuse of effects loaded action sequences. Ian Mcdiarmid churns in an all star performance as the conniving Chancellor Palpatine. Hayden Christiansen, though not perfect, was excellent as Anakin Skywalker, and has improved as an actor since Episode 2. Samuel L Jackson , on the other hand, plays Mace Windu as if he were reading q-cards. After viewing the DVD, I highly recommend Lucas reinsert a deleted scene involving Amidala confronting Palpatine about ending the war. Not only does it portray tension between the Chancellor and Portman's character, but also builds up a mistrust of Anakin towards Padme. The force is strong with Episode 3. Too bad it the magic wasn't there with Episodes 1 and 2.
Trouble (2005)
great solid thriller
CONTAINS SPOILERS
Just viewed a copy of this film, and what a ride. Freaky as hell, and an ending that is extremely unnerving. I kinda had a feeling Tomas was the victor, but was still disturbed nonetheless. I though the twist of Tomas/Elina was a nice touch, and an excellent plot twist. Great performances from the cast all around, and tons of suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat. Some nice cinematography , and the scene with Matyas arriving at the home with the bathtub running sent chills down my spine. Lets hope Hollywood does not decide to stick its dirty fingers in this film, and produce a remake.
Sakigake!! Kuromati Kôkô: The Movie (2005)
saw it at fantasia......
......and loved it. Full of great humor, and over the top antics. A very fun movie, with all the goof ball cheesiness but yet retaining a sense of charm. A great and varied cast make this film one of my favorites so far this year at Fantasia Film Festival (along with Kamikaze Girls and Shutter). Definitely don't pass this one up. Among some of my favorite characters include Freddy, the shirtless queen, the gorilla Whoopi, and Mechazawa the trusty robot (who partakes in a hilarious spoof of a classic horror film we all know). There are times though when the audience may feel the joke is dragging on too long, and I agree with them, but there is also side of me wanting more.
