Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn (2002)
Its all about Pat Cooper
America is the land of milk and honey.
I have to say that I love late night TV. 2000 years from now, our ancestors will be looking at Jon Stewart and Conan the same way kids learn about Socrates or Plato.
I usually watch Stewart, then Leno's Monologue, then Letterman's guests, then Conan, then I fall asleep after he stops rambling (which everyone knows is the best part anyway).
So I would like to declare that I have made a schedule change. Goodbye Leno, hello Tough Crowd. If Pat Cooper has an IMDb account, I want him to know that he is the funniest one there.
Van Helsing (2004)
The last of the trilogy... I hope.
No spoiler herein...
Again, Hollywood has released yet another boredom vehicle. Hopefully, many residents of the IMDB community will realize the fact that three exactly the same films were released during the past year.
These three films were League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Hellboy and Van Helsing. All three sucked.
Exact same premise in all three. Exact same conclusion in all three. Several miniscule differences, but they were all pretty much the same. I want to cry.
Since I am a screenwriter, I go into films with a conscious self-perception of my emotions and the movements of the hidden script. I have realized that Hollywood's action flicks need to forget about the action and revitalize the innovation of good story.
What am I saying? I'm saying that action for the sake of action is boring. SWAT was boring. It had lots of action, but it was boring.
If any producer happens to read this ever, please, please, please envision yourself watching your own film. If you find yourself falling asleep, then think twice about spending 170 mil on another Hollywood Action boredom vehicle.
Stuff like Van Helsing doesn't keep people coming back for that crucial second and third and fourth week. It just doesn't.
