Ante Sundharaniki (2022)
Thinking is also contagious...!!!
There have been many movies about young men and women belonging to two different religions falling in love, fleeing the village when the elders at home object, and then facing various problems. There are some movies in the background of events that lead to honor killings. But here the two lovers from different religions decide to get married by playing liars so as to gain the sympathy of the elders. In fact, both Sundar and Leela family members are the ones who prefer the traditions but not the ones who take advantage of the children and act against their wishes. But as they want to hide such people, and play deadly lies for that, the roles of the heroines are diluted. Even the audience who had sympathized with Sundar and his anxieties till then will come to the opinion that 'this is not a common man'. From there they stop owning that character... and create a negative impression towards him. Both of them keep on making mistakes to correct their mistakes. At one point, even when they are castigated for that wrongdoing, there is no sympathy from the audience. But at that time the director made room for some sentiment, brought out the human side of the hero and gave a happy ending to the story. If you think the hero Sundare is a fake, then it is an understatement to say that the heroine Leela is an even bigger fake!!!
When the name 'Ante Sundaraniki...' was given to this movie, many people had the idea that this is an adult comedy movie. Some doubted how Vivek Atreya would make such a film with Nani, who has a good reputation among family audiences. But... Vivek Atreya has screened the story he wrote as a clean entertainer without going beyond the limits in this matter. But here's the catch. Following tradition, believing in astrology, performing homams to solve problems is their belief. There is no need to belittle astrology here. But in the name of progressive thoughts, the directors are mocking the belief of others even if it is not necessary in some cases. Same thing happened with this movie. In this love story, the director has implicitly said that humanity is greater than religion and there is no better thing to do than helping fellow human beings. Moreover.... He said that marriage is not an affair of two people but a union of two families. Happiness!!
The dialogues in every scene are brilliant. But his biggest mistake was not focusing on the length of the film. The length of the movie is about three hours. Not only in the first half, but also in the second half, there are many scenes that need to be trimmed. Vivek Sagar, who played a key role in the success of many movies, could not give his level of songs in this. After watching the movie, there is not a single song worth humming. Perhaps to make up for that shortcoming, a promotional song was released at the end as a dance number with a catchy tune. But background music by Vivek Sagar and cinematography by Niket Bommi are good. Editor Ravi Teja Gurija did not seem to have been given any freedom by the director...
When it comes to actors... Sundar impressed me. There may be a flaw in his characterization but it doesn't affect Nani's performance. And Nazria, who came from Malluwood to Tollywood... played the role of Leela Thomas very well. Especially in the first movie itself, he dubbed his own character. But why is there no freshness in that role? Anupama Parameswaran, who is doing films as a solo heroine, does not need to do such a supporting role in this film. Probably acted out of admiration for the production company. Rohini and Naresh as the hero's parents, Aruna Bhikshu as the grandmother, Nadia as the heroine's parents, Tamil actor Alagan Perumal and Malayalam actress Tanvi Ram as the older sister. Subhalekha Sudhakar is brilliant as the friend of Shiva and does well. Chinna, Jagan, and Uttej were well utilized by Ram Gopal Varma with their new style of dialogue delivery and presence. JD Chakravarthy is excellent as the spoiled brat of the college and his name became JD with the tremendous popularity of the role. Raghuvaran is at his usual mellowed best and the villain and gives another brilliant performance. Kota Srinivasa Rao gets another memorable role in this masterpiece...
Dialogues for the film were written by Tanikella Bharani and Ram Gopal Varma with lot of freshness and ease. There is so much of passion involved in the writing with minimal dialogues which are tremendously impactful. Cinematography by S. Gopal Reddy is another asset for the film with breathtaking stunts, sequences and superior use of camera. It was the first time Steady Cam was used in the history of Indian Cinema. Music by Ilaiyaraaja rocked the youth of the 80s with foot tapping numbers like Botany Paatam, Anando Brahma, Sarasalu Chalu, Elliyello and so on. There is no college student even till date who wouldn't finish their studies without humming Botany Paatam song! The background score for this film elevates the mood in many pivotal scenes. Direction by Ram Gopal Varma is crisp, perfect and brilliantly done. The film is good on production values...
Alien: Romulus (2024)

Same old wine in a new bottle in which the crew trying to get caught up with the alien are trying to serve fresh toast...It is the seventh film in the Alien series. The first film in the series, Alien (1979), was directed by Ridley Scott. The second film, 'Aliens (1986)', was directed by James Cameron. The story of this film is set to take place between the first two films. Even if you haven't seen the script, you can enjoy the movie without any confusion...
Cailey Spanny, who plays the heroine of the story, has added strength with her mature performance. A person who lives a life of slavery fills our mind with self-esteem and craving for affection... . David Johnson's performance Andy is menacing...His clever technical ideas throughout the film also add to the interest while the place where he gets confused lines on his face despite having clear orders, the body language he shows when he is stuck in technical problems as a robot, the clarity he shows in the climax has been impressive for a long time in the film...
A massive round of applause for the villainous Xenomorph and related graphics! Similarly, most of the scenes take place in the spaceship divided into two parts, Romulus - Remus, but the scenes are moved without struggling anywhere. Cinematography and exquisite production design!
Kudos to director Fede Álvarez for wrapping this up with a script that is understandable even with a basic understanding of the 'Alien' franchise...
Once you get past the initial alien scenes and board the spaceship, the screenplay falters. Although it is predictable that Alien will strike everyone in its horror treatment, the film team has made it interesting with excellent performances. Especially the climax in 'Zero Gravity' concept is brilliantly made. The occasional technical ideas also add to the visuals...
At the same time, the question of how many more films will be made in the same way is also looming...However, Ridley Scott, the creator of the franchise, stumbled a bit in the subsequent parts, traveled the commercially correct route and revived the old franchise with this 'Alien: Romulus!
Mazhai Pidikatha Manithan (2024)

Director Ramana a neat worthy job While Megha Akash, Saranya Ponvannan and AL Azhakappan come and go without pressure... Sathyaraj is only used to talk on the phone in a dignified appearance...
Vijay Milton's cinematography adds interest to the action scenes, which are attempted in a novel way only at certain places While KL Praveen's cuts have also contributed with screenplay moving at astudy pace and some intercut sequences are also enjoyable... However, songs and scenes that stray from the main story could have been approached with strictness... Music by Achu Rajamani and Vijay Antony does not impress the songs and does not make the film interesting... The background music only helped spice up some of the moments. The action sequences of Supreme Siva, Mahesh Mathew, Kevin Kumar and the innovative screenplay of the director give a bit of thrill and then tried to test audience patience...
Director Vijay Milton has tried to mix the familiar story of the hero hiding his identity and living in a new town, the new relationships he gets there, the problems he faces, the hero fighting for it, an old enemy invading, with the background of Andaman and innovative action making. Apart from the subject, its the screenplay that grips you right from the first scene. Pari takes the viewer into his world revealing the love, betrayal, yearning, manipulation, pain and pathos in the lives of his characters, namely Ilavarsan and Kalyanam.
The camerawork is superb, with its color tones and palettes showcasing the lives of the theatre artists. The drama sequences from the mahabharata are realistically portrayed and are engaging...
Actor Chethan Kadambi seems to have ttansformed himself into Tandavam and his histonics are a sheer delight to watch. After Viduthalai this is another meaty role for him and his act is a highlight of the film...
Pari as Kalyanam is most impressive in every frame. Be it dialogues, transformation from masculine to effiminate, or the way he brings out the innocence, determination, yearning and frustration of his character, every bit is praiseworthy.
Ammu Abhirami has given a fiery and realistic performance in a well written role particularly her take on "Masculinity" is a well crafted scene...
The confrontations between kalyanam and Jagadambal, or the complicated dynamics between Tandavam and Kalyanam. The troupe performing mahabharata scenes, the climax portions, the scenes between mother and son, all high in drama and emotions, potrayed in the flavor of the local dialect where the film is set, make it all the more realistic...
Overall Jama with its racy screenplay, realistic performances, a superb cast, dramatic moments and emotional rollercoaster and peek into a different world, is an entertaining and engaging watch...

This director is simply stuffing his ideology with non-sensical and far away from realistic approach. He is trying to say something related to casteism but very fearful to say it with a simple day-to-day life background. What is Renjith crying about? That the caste system has spoiled the castes?
The indian constitution has already given allowance for the castes in the name of reservations...These reservations are not properly utilized by and instead being abused by themselves, on top of which they require more allowances. Let Renjith portray this in his movie with a straightforward screenplay...Are you simply trying to instigate the public to say that such killings are justifiable.
Renjith, make some sensible and a movie that should be thought provoking...
Poor Vikram Sir, i don't know how this Renjith convinced Vikram Sir? I presume Vikram Sir was baited into this project and his efforts goes in vain after "i" movie...Parvathy & pasupathy scores effortlessly indeed most underrated actors of the decade...
Jai Bhim was a good movie based on real time true events in which caste system was abused and some innocent people got effect...Ranjith could have worked out better in the later half of 2nd portion while the hint for sequel is the poorest idea to be shelved half...

There is love in everyone's life before marriage. But does it last after marriage? Or the makers made it into eight episodes with a small point that love also carries memories. But it can be completed in four episodes. The director who created the love stories of the old generation has ended the love story of this generation in a very fast forward way.
This series is around two families but the bond is missing in each episode while entertainment goes scarce... However The director took a bit more time while it's even proves that current generation are matured enough to know what life is about...
Sathyaraj is convincing in the role of Bharti sir. He is the main force in this web series. The others acted to the extent of their roles...
Another plus point in this web series is Seetha's excellent acting and expression... Sathyaraj's comedy is taken at some places. Similarly, Sathyaraj's house, Rekha's house and the beauty of Kerala are cool to the eyes. You can watch this because there are no fight scenes, blood, violence etc...
But watching the entire series requires some patience. It's the scenes we've already seen that are boring enough that come and test. That and the climax no one can expect...

Inspired by the books of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, this series is the official remake of BBC's Sherlock Holmes. Instead of London, the story is set in Bengal and it is the 90s. It is clear that cases will be solved not by technology but by the use of intelligence...
This series is told through six episodes while the makers intention of bringing a local adaptation of Sherlock Holmes is noble, but it does not hold up in comparison with the cult classic Sherlock Holmes, because ideas alone do not make good shows. While watching Shekhar Home, you feel strongly that there is no such case which can become a challenge for Shekhar. Everything is easy for Shekhar, even the character M has been shown in a very interesting manner in the beginning of the series. It was felt that there will be a tremendous fight, but the weak screenplay has not been able to do justice to the character. The makers needed to understand that only if the villain is powerful, the character of the hero i.e. Shekhar Hom will truly emerge on the screen. Not only the stories but also the characters of this detective series are flat. There are also mistakes in the production value of the show. In the first few episodes, flaws are visible in production design, lighting and cinematography. These aspects have been addressed only in the last two episodes. The pace of the series is also slow. It takes more time to setup. Some work was needed in the editing of the series...
Kay Kay Menon plays the title role and has left his mark in the character with his performance. Despite the presence of a seasoned actor like KK Menon, Ranveer Shorey has also been successful in showing his presence in the series, although a memorable on-screen bond has not been formed between Jayavrat and Shekhar...Rasika Duggal and Kaushik Sen also do justice to their roles...Kirti Kulhari tries well in her role, but weak writing does not give her a chance to do much. Rest of the characters are doing fine in their roles...
Overall If you want to watch a crime drama series with your family and you don't want to see too much bloodshed, then this series is for you. If you are a fan of the core crime thriller genre then this series may disappoint you...

It is obvious that a newborn cannot be converted into a soul, but showing the age of the soul as 10 years is also not acceptable. Darshan's strange behavior is beyond understanding. A layer of mystery and excitement in his behavior
But why? There is no explanation for this in the story...
Sejal Shah's cinematography has accurately captured the desolation of the village. However, in the name of locations, Darshan's house and the room above, in which the spirit resides, are aunt's house and Kali Khuhi. It is a challenge for the cinematographer to show different scenes in limited locations. In terms of acting, the real soul of Kaali Khuhi is Shabana Azmi. The rest of the cast has supported him well, due to which it does not seem difficult to spend one and a half hour. Kali Khuhi, despite being weak at the story level, gives a strong message. The best thing about the film is its duration. The horror and publicized 'Kali Khuhi' does not scare at all. Yes, some scenes are definitely provocative...
