Heartfelt, spunky film with an important message
7 September 2016
As an activist, I was excited to see that Pen was tackling the topic of Citizens United. I had seen and loved documentaries on this topic, but I was curious how he was going to cover this in a fictional film. I was pleasantly surprised to see what Pen did to bring this story to life.

The film is low-budget, but I thought they did an amazing job with production values, a huge cast and many sets. He was able to bring humanity and intrigue to the fight against how corporate greed has taken this country off track.

It's a heartfelt spunky film with an important message. Audiences should be able to look beyond the flaws that come along with most low-budget films to see the heart shine through.

A Golden mix of zany characters and story
19 October 2014
The Golden Scallop is a hilarious and often crazy look at a Seafood cooking competition in the Northeast. The cast works brilliantly together, great chemistry and I wondered how they were able to get so many talented people, not being a big budget film. It was impressive seeing how they filmed the cooking scenes too, they looked so great. James Cosmo as the judge comes up with a gem of a performance and my other favorite character is Tobias Jelinek as Seth the fry cook, who also hit it out of the park.

If you are a fan of Napoleon Dynamite, you will probably love this film. In my opinion it is right up there with the Christopher Guest films and one of my absolute favorite comedies I have seen in the last year.

Pay 2 Play shows how one can make a difference and start to take back control of our political system
8 September 2014
Pay 2 Play isn't your standard political film. It interweaves stories about Monopoly, underdog candidates, unpublicized scandals involving huge amounts of money and street art. If you've wondered how our political system has become beholden to the huge corporate donors and the very rich and controlled by it, then you should see this film. It explores the history of money in politics, how it relates to the game Monopoly, history of Supreme Court decisions such as Citizens United to Hobby Lobby, and many of the various movements that people are involved in to try to regain balance in our country.

Pay 2 Play shows us hope in several solutions we can get involved in now to turn the tide for We The People! It will entertain and show you what is going on in our political system deep beneath the surface of your TV.
