Old Space Cartoons
21 April 2008
Remember the old animated rocket spaceship cartoon?

The animated cartoon "The Space Explorers" used to be shown on this show by Al Hodge.

The old space cartoon was also seen here:

►Ranger Hal (Hal Shaw of WTOP-TV Channel 9 in Washington, DC), ►Sheriff John (John Rovick of KTTV-TV Channel 11, Los Angeles, CA), ►"The Pancake Man" (Hal Smith, seen on KHJ-TV (Now KCAL) Ch. 9 In Hollywood, CA), ►Garfield Goose (Frazier Thomas of WGN-TV Channel 9 in Chicago), ►Captain Satellite (Bob March of KTVU-TV, Channel 2 in San Francisco, CA), ►Major Mudd (Ed T. McDonell of WNAC-TV Channel 7 in New England, Boston), ►"Afternoon Roundup" (Sally Starr of WFIL-TV Channel 6 in Philadelphia, PA), ►P.J.'s Club (Pete Jamerson of WMAL-TV Channel 7 in Washington, DC).

According to Fred Ladd, "The sound effects were created by two very bright guys -Barney Beck and Al (Alfred) Schaffer who were working at the time at radio station WOR-TV, New York.

The Space Explorers (1958 TV Short)

I have loved this undiscovered Sci-fi for 40 years!
15 April 2004
A truly undiscovered classic! Being in direct communication with the current copy-right holder, I was graciously provided the opportunity to see it again on VHS tape after forty years... and I loved it every bit as much. I don't know how this has fallen through the cracks. As an educational and motivational film it was ahead of its time. I first saw this film when I was five years old, and was glued to the TV set for each new episode.

If MGM, TriStar, Columbia, Universal, TriMark, Warner, Paramount, Turner or somebody rediscovers this animated cartoon they will surely want to grab it to see that it is re-released it on DVD someday.
