Excellent History Engagingly Recounted
17 February 2014
This is a wonderful documentary that packs a lot of history into a little more than one hour. It is directed by acclaimed Canadian film director Barry Avrich. The documentary is heavily based on Sir Martin Gilbert's book entitled "Churchill and the Jews: A Lifelong Friendship." Even if you have read the book it is worth watching the documentary because you will see many distinguished and knowledgeable people interviewed on the topic including interviews of Churchill family members, Lord Conrad Black, Sir Martin Gilbert, Alan Dershowitz, The 11th Duke of Marlborough among others. You will see where Churchill was born (including the bedroom where he was born), many photos and relevant film footage. It helps make the history come to life. The narrator does an excellent job as well. If this topic is of interest then this documentary is a treasure trove.
