Shame on you Mr. Spielberg and Mr. Lucas....................
23 May 2008
I have given this movie an overall 5/10. The first half is superb - classic Indy with car chases, tombs and all - so 10/10. The second half however is SFX nonense - so 0/10. It's like Spielberg directed the first half and Lucas directed the second.

The plot (however non-Indy it may appear) did not bother me. It was simply the execution of the idea. Too much CG for over the top action scenes, simple as that.

Both Spielberg and Lucas should find a tomb and lay there for a while 'cos quite a few people want their blood. I have been to see it twice already with both Indy fans and new-comers to the series. Not one of them enjoyed it.

Darkest, yet most disappointing in the trilogy..........
3 September 2004
I loved the first Messiah and was in awe throughout the first and second part. I watched the repeat and still the ending has the ability to surprise. Messiah II, I thought was better (despite many people disliking the conclusion and revelation of who the bad-guy was).

Messiah III: The Promise - I'm not sure what to make of it. I liked the idea and the death scenes very much. However, I was disappointed by the unmasking of the bad-guy. I had guessed the identity and the motive in the first part, which is unusual as I like to be surprised. So with that sorted, I was just watching death scene after death scene knowing who was behind it.

The writer, Lizzie Mickery, was not at fault as she created a good feature. But, there were many darker turns this could have taken.

I still long for them to make Messiah IV. I wish they would hire me to write it, as I would take it down a really unexpected and even darker path...........

I bought the DVD boxset and....................

I was actually pleasantly surprised. I heard all the bad reviews and how rubbish it was but there was nothing wrong with it. Jan De Bont really gives the film a boost with his directing (I've always liked his films, eg. Speed and hell even Speed 2!) with the fast track cameras and all.

Jolie and the cast great. The story, passable. The CG very good and the stunts were really cool. What more can I say?! One of the better summer blockbusters.

Bring on Lara 3.
