Elliott from Earth (2021)
So Far It's Really Good
This show has potential so far, the animation is quite pleasant, the story is interesting and unique, funny humor, the characters are likable. The story is about a young boy named Elliott who lives with his geologist mother named Frankie and is also lonely, since it's difficult to make and perhaps keep friends since they constantly have to move to different places. They then find a strange space rock that transports them out of Earth and seemingly end up on a planet, they then meet a young talking dinosaur named Mo, it also turns out that Elliot and his mom were on some sort of exhibit/park like place on an enormous spaceship, they then do their best to settle in and making friends/acquaintances, Elliott and Mo going to a school. This series could become the next Steven Universe or Over The Garden Wall, but it's a bit early to tell. I hope the series gets more views, I hope cable television will return to it's former glory soon.
Moms' Night Out (2014)
A Dull, Mostly Unfunny Movie
I could not bring myself to like this movie, the characters are annoyingly stupid, bland writing, the humor is forced and unfunny(I only found ONE scene funny). I'm the only person in my family who doesn't like this film. The critics don't like the film, well honestly I don't blame them, having Christian faith in movies is okay, but that doesn't automatically make a film good. Skip this movie and watch something better.
Over the Garden Wall (2014)
This Miniseries is glorious
The animation is fantastic, the plot/story is great, creative and imaginative, the tone of the show is unpredictable; it can go from light hearted and comical to dark and grim, the characters are lovable and the voice acting is excellent. The series is about two young brothers(half brothers) named Wirt who's pessimistic and worrisome and Greg the younger and also friendly and cheerful brother, who are lost in a strange land called the Unknown, meet a talking bluebird called Beatrice(who is actually a girl who was turned into a bird), who helps to get them home, they run into a ghost, talking skeletons who wear vegetables, an elder woodsman and demonic being called the Beast who turn anyone who loses hope into an oil filled tree. This series is like an American fairy tale, the Unknown resembles the old days of America, like the pilgrim era, 1700's to early 1900's along with a large forest of strange creatures. Go ahead and view this masterpiece. I just wish the show lasted a little longer.
SpongeBob SquarePants: SpongeBob, You're Fired (2013)
Are you kidding?!
This episode was poorly written, but it's concept was good. The episode starts out at the Krusty Krab, where Mr. Krabs fires Spongebob so he can save 5 FLIPPING CENTS, my Lord not even Scrooge Mcduck is that greedy, heck I wouldn't be surprised if he sold his soul to the Devil for a penny. Spongebob cries about it and becomes depressed, when Patrick hears about what happened, he says it's great that he was unemployed, heck the next day he shows him the "benefits" of being unemployed. Kids watch the show and unemployment isn't a good thing, this will likely give them the wrong idea that acting like a lazy bum is good. Luckily, Sandy tells Spongebob to find a new job, he goes to a pizza, noodle, hotdog and a taco restaurant, he gets fired from all of the jobs due to putting the food in a burger bun, I know Spongebob is a moron, but he should know that not all meals go in a burger bun. So he goes home and makes a vegetable salad like snail food for Gary, which really enjoys, so does Spongebob start a new snail food company with the new dish he created? Negatory. Then he gets kidnapped by each of his former employers saying they made a mistake and that the customers liked the way he made their food. Okay first off, they could've called him on the phone and not kidnap him! Then his captors are beaten up by(wait for it ) Squidward! Since when can Squidward fight like that? He rescues Spongebob and brings him to the Krusty Krab. Mr. Krabs apologizes to Spongebob and asks him to come back and work for him and the latter gladly accepts( I wouldn't, considering the stupid reason he fired him). So that was Spongebob you're fired, it is one of the worst episodes of the show, it's poorly written, it's stupid in an annoying way, the humor is forced and unfunny, there's pointless scenes and Mr. Krabs was quite unlikable(he's been the very unlikable in the modern episodes of the show). Oh wait forgot one more thing of what's wrong with this stinker, Patrick saying that unemployment is great! Watch a good Spongebob episode like Big Pink Loser, Pizza Delivery or Can You Spare a Dime(the episode has a similar plot with Squidward and was done better).
Hilda (2018)
A great animated series you should check out!
Where do I start, this show is imaginative, heartwarming, greatly written and has lovable characters. It's also the best animated show since Gravity Falls and Over The Garden Wall. The show is about a young adventurous girl with blue hair named Hilda who lives with her mom and moves from the wilderness and into a city called Trollberg(Note: The show seemingly takes place in a fantasy world that resembles Scandinavia where there's modern technology like cars and phones). She wasn't happy at first, but when she became friends with Frida, a smart and organized girl and David, a friendly but fearful boy, also found out the positive sides of residing in the city, she liked her new home. She also comes across strange creatures. The animation is dazzling and fluid, the designs of the characters and setting are marvelous. Go on and watch the series, you'll have a fun time. Be on the lookout for season 2 that's arriving in 2020.
A Matter of Faith (2014)
Not worth your time!
Oh boy, where do I begin? Well as a baptist christian, I know that there are a lot of bad and also atrocious christian films, this film is no exception. The film is about a young lady named Rachel Whitaker in late teens who is about to start college and her family is christian, one of these classes she takes is biology, the professor who is Marcus Kaman is obviously an atheist, he appears to kind and respectful, Rachel's dad however looks him up on the internet, get ready for this folks, he consults with his church pastor about what kaman teaches his students and the pastor tells him that all public schools and universities teach evolution(it goes to show that the former went a christian school instead) and that there are people who believe in both God and evolution, heck the dad did not even know that, he is a flipping dolt! What does he do next? He goes to talk to the professor himself and tells him that he is unhappy about his teachings and of how it may have affected his daughter and Kaman responds by saying he respects that he is a christian and he only teaches what the textbooks say, Rachel comes in and becomes rightfully embarrassed about this situation and Mr. Whitaker and Kaman agree to do a debate on creationism vs evolution. Kaman announces this to his classroom and is supportive of which path Rachel chooses to follow(that has to be embarrassing for her, I felt sorry for her). Heck when Mr. Whitaker reads about how atheists believe that humans came from apes he complains that there isn't anything that has to do with the supernatural(my Lord do you not know anything?!). There's another student named Evan he's slightly older than Rachel and is christian, oh he asks an atheist student a rude question "Is your mother an ape? Are any of your relatives apes?" That is a very rude question, I am surprised that the random student didn't slam his fist into Evan's face, he could've just said I don't see any people evolving or any animals, he could've just talked about the story of Adam & Eve(well he does but he should've left the whole are your family members apes crap out). Evan is quite forceful about his religious views and tries get people to believe in them(Christians aren't suppose to force you to believe, there supposed to talk about what they believe in and let you make your own choice) and believes that Kaman is trying get rid of people's faith in God. Mr. Whitaker tries get a former professor named Portland for help, he apparently has met Kaman before and lost his job because of him, jerkish Rachel's dad first calls him he says no and then he goes to his home and is basically forceful to get him to help him in this upcoming debate and Portland says no. Evans then has a conversation with Rachel about Kaman about how he attempts to get students to secede their Christian faith(he's just trying to teach biology class, he never showed any hostility towards students). Then comes the debate, between Kaman and Mr. Whitaker, the latter nearly loses when Kaman gets assertive about how does faith prove that God exists until Mr. Portland happens to be watching the show and takes Whitaker's places and wins the event. Rachel comes back to her Christian faith(she was on the fence of evolution and creationism during the the whole movie) she and Evan get closer, blah blah blah the end. This is one of the worst movies that I have ever seen as well as one of the most insulting, I mean come on, both religion and science can exist together, this propaganda film tries to teach that thinking logically or critically or making choices on your own is a bad thing, I mean college is supposed to be for education/learning and boosting up your career choices not preaching the gospel, go on missionary trips if you want to spread Christianity or invite people to church, heck Christians all have their own different yet similar views on certain things(like how the world was created and why the dinosaurs and other animals went extinct). The writing/story was awful, the acting for the most part was quite hallow, the characters were either uninteresting or unlikable jerks, heck the college chancellor seemed to be portrayed as a heartless, cold person who hates Christians, this is a problem with a lot of christian films, they portray atheists as evil, unhappy, corrupted and immoral, not all atheists are evil, there a lot of them that good and well meaning, I have friends that are atheists and they were friendly and respectful. During the debate, I'm surprised that they didn't talk about historical proof of characters from the Bible. If you want to see this film be my guest, but warning, it will insult your intelligence, I recommend you watch a great christian film like The Ten Commandments or Courageous.
The Loud House: The Loudest Thanksgiving (2018)
It has great concept but...
Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. It was pleasant that a family show was going to air a Thanksgiving episode since it's rare for a kid's show to do that. Let's start off with the story. In the Loud House, Lori calls her boyfriend named Bobby, she invites the latter to the holiday dinner with her family, but turns out Bobby is also having a dinner with his family on that day, both of their families eavesdrop on them, so both families are obviously reluctant about this. So the love birds find out that their family heard them on the phone, Lori decides to invite Bobby's family(the Casagrandes) to her dinner. So on Thanksgiving Casagrandes arrive at the Louds' residence, they introduce each other, the Louds do their own holiday traditions like the kids do a judge like thing on a turkey(Lily dressed in a turkey suit), the Casas don't seem to be a fan of it, things go downhill when the dinner is served, the Loud parents and the Casa grandma get competitive with their food they're trying to give to Lori and Bobby, the Casa grandpa tries to play music on his guitar, then Luna plays her rock guitar competitively, then the whole Thanksgiving feast becomes a disaster since the families start a food brawl. My Lord, both families were acting like contemptuous, ungrateful, disrespectful curs, I'm surprised that they didn't act out a pilgrim vs Native American act! I mean Lincoln is is one of Ronnie Ann's best friends and you would think that she would be okay with spending time with the Louds and not to mention that Lori and Lincoln visited the Casagrandes' home and twice and they were fond of them, you would think that they would be more friendly to the Louds, even Lincoln was being somewhat of a jerk, that's quite out of character for him(yes he has acted like a jerk at times in other episodes but this was low of him. He's usually friendly and well meaning). Lori and Bobby leave the house and spend their time at a gas station, their relatives come by to apologize for their uncivilized behavior, they have the most ludicrous Thanksgiving dinner I have ever seen on television; hot dogs, nachos, slushies and candy bar for dessert?! Come on, why not go to a store to buy some more turkey or any other food or go to an open restaurant and split the bill?! Luna and the Casa grandpa sing a rather decent song about Thanksgiving. So that was The Loudest Thanksgiving, it was a sort of mixed bag, it had a good concept, the song at the end was nice and the families apologized for their behavior, but the downside is the that both of the families were acting like uncivilized churls(I don't mind conflict, but the episode could've went a better direction for it and maybe a slightly different conflict) the ending felt rushed, Lincoln never had a Thanksgiving dessert until now because he eats too much cuisine, why doesn't his family save him a piece?! Their Thanksgiving dinner at the end was quite absurd and untraditional, I know in the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special, that Snoopy served candy and popcorn for the dinner, but it was resolved by having Charlie's parents taking him to his grandparents' house for a real Thanksgiving dinner and Snoopy had turkey at the end. See this episode if you like, for a better Thanksgiving special, watch the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.
Thor: The Dark World (2013)
The plot needs improvement
The first Thor film was good, not great, this movie however is not so much. The plot/story was mediocre, the main villain Malekith was bland, not to mention he and his minions resembled rejected Doctor Who villains, in the comics they had medieval weapons like the Asgardians did and Malekith was a magician, but in this film, they have alien weapons and mount on space ships, I don't mind changes but this shoves the limit. The best parts of the movie was graphics, they were amazing, the battle scenes were also cool and Loki was entertaining. Don't expect too much from this film.
Christian Mingle (2014)
Dull and mind numbingly bad
I am a Baptist Christian, but I know for a fact that just because it's a Christian movie doesn't mean it's a good movie. The writing is bad, the acting is painfully awful, the humor is forced and unfunny, the characters are shallow and forgettable and it's like watching a bad parody of a Christian film and lastly it's boring. I couldn't watch it all, that's how bad it was. Oh did I mention that the main character is dull and loony(in a bad way). Skip this movie and watch a good Christian film like Ten Commandments or Nativity Story.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018)
This movie was a mixed bag
First off, the first Fantastic Beasts movie was good, this movie is a mixture of good and bad. I'll start with the good parts of the movie, the visual effects are stunning and magical, the acting was great for the most part and the wizard duels were also good, it added more interesting magical creatures and it was also great to see Hogwarts again. The bad parts of the movie, well let's start off by saying that the story/plot is a bit muddled and the writers crammed in too many plot lines in the film, part of the time I didn't know what was going on. There was also a bit too many characters, also why make Nagini into a former witch and would years later become a snake permanently, I thought that she was some species of snake that was only found in the Wizarding World, not to mention, she should've had more screen time to have more personality. It was shown that Dumbledore taught Defense Against The Dark Arts Class, what's up with that? He's supposed to teach transfiguration, unless he was substituting, I don't know, it isn't explained why he was teaching that subject. Some of the new characters are meh, while Grindlewald was an interesting character, I don't agree with Johnny Depp playing as him, why not someone else like Tom Hiddleston? I don't see Depp as an evil wizard, it's almost like having Jim Carrey playing as Voldemort. Oh and in a flashback during Newt's days as a Hogwarts student, it shows Mccgonagol as a Hogwarts teacher! Mccgonagal wasn't even alive during that time, she was born in the 1930s, this is a big plot hole!Another plot hole is that Credence is a Dumbledore, how is that possible, Dumbledore's dad was in Azkaban for the rest of his days after attacking the muggle kids who bullied his daughter, so this is illogical for Credence to be a Dumbledore, does this movie take place in an alternative universe?! It sometimes feels like a poorly written fanfiction. Go ahead and see it if you like, but don't expect a whole lot.
Gravity Falls (2012)
One of the best cartoon shows ever!
This show is creative, mysterious, weird(in a good way mostly), brilliantly written, funny and heartwarming at times. The animation is great, the character designs are pleasant. The show is about 12 year old twin siblings who spend their summer at their great uncle's tourist trap. The twins are Dipper the brother who is the intelligent and mature one who finds a strange journal that has all kinds of information about the weird supernatural creatures that live in and near the town, then there's the twin sister Mabel who's eccentric, childlike and cheerful, who is an excellent artist and often helps Dipper out to find the strange stuff. The siblings spend much of their time trying to find the author of the journal, though they occasionally try to help keep their grumpy money-hungry yet good hearted Uncle Stan's tourist trap in one piece and also help out their new friends they make as they spend their summer in the bizarre town, as well as dealing with dangerous enemies. This show is worth watching, the characters are lovable and relatable, it has a great plot, it can go from light hearted to dark and frightening. This gem is as great as other cartoons such as Looney Tunes, Batman: Animated Series and Scooby Doo.
The Andy Griffith Show: Mayberry R.F.D. (1968)
A Bad Ending to a classic show
This episode isn't worth watching, it didn't feel like the Andy Grifth Show, also it was boring.
