Sum of Existence (2005)
...Really?!
***Contains Spoilers***
I never review anything online because, let's face it, everyone reviews everything. However, this movie was THAT bad that I actually felt the need to join this site just to have my say about it shortly after having watched it.
Look, the concept is great: rape victim doesn't recover mentally from trauma so she's hypnotised (without her consent) by the well meaning family psychiatrist. Her attacker doesn't like this as he doesn't want his victim forgetting him and continues to stalk her, the victim starts remembering this and that and then eventually, everyone who's been lying to her has to tell her what really happened yada yada yada. Meanwhile her parents marriage is falling apart. Yep, awesome concept, great ideas.
Honestly though? Just not enough money. That's where this film falls down. There obviously just wasn't enough cash to make this movie right, I just really hope that one day it's made properly. None of the scenes in this film were disturbing, moving, frightening - there was just no way to relate to any of the characters I'm afraid.
If this film was done right (bigger budget, better director, better actors) then honestly, it'd be huge. Like I said, the idea/concept is great. The movie is not.
