Really bad

Typical German formulaic comedy. Terrible jokes, dialogues and scripts. Acting terrible. Characters terrible. Woman dumb. Man strong. Bad guy has good heart. Nice filming location. Home alone had more credibility and inner logic. Better watch something else.

Good documentary - science based facts vs. fear mongering

Where are the GMO risks - noone has ever shown any. Really a good documentary among all the hysteria about GMO.

Lot's of action, uncinvincing and unoriginal plot
15 August 2018
Tom looks good for his age, the stunt scenes are great, but there is so much non-sensical action, it becomes boring after a while. In particular the car-chase scenes could have been cut by 50%. The plot is completely unconvincing. The romance element is painful - every woman loves Tom Cruise so much, bla bla bla. Painful. Also, the bad guy can be immediately identified by his moustache - villains always wear a beard.

OK to watch if you want superficial amusement, but I think the MI franchise has peaked two or more films ago, this is just more of the same.

Good pictures, good actors, terrible story

Ends abruptly in the middle of the story buildup - do not waste your time, unless you like disappointment.

Miscast main actors make this painful to watch
14 September 2015
James Dean does not look like James Dean - more like Leonardo di Caprio in What's eating Gilbert Grape.

Robert Pattinson's acting skills were not up to the task either - the photographer did not come alive in this movie.

I found it very hard to build any empathy for any of the persons on the screen. The only interesting scene is the Ben Kingsley scene.

There is no action - at all. At the same time, the movie takes itself extremely serious - pretentious is what I would say. Melodramatic Jazz instrumentals accompany boring monologues of the James Dean-not-look-alike.

I walked out after an hour, stumbled on this in a sneak - definitely not amusing. Maybe only for die-hard James Dean fans, if you can tolerate the miscast main character. Or if you are a fan of the "iconic" James Dean shots (which I am not - hype is not my thing.)

The Avengers (2012)

Boring
23 August 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I have to admit, I am no comic book reader, but I have enjoyed a number of acceptable comic book movie adaptations (500, the first two Xmen, Spiderman, the first Iron Man).

This is not one of them. The story is boring and flimsy - Loki wants to subvert earth (why?) using a light cube called Tesseract created by earth scientists. (what is this- no explanation). The avengers who we mostly know from previous movies are assembled, but there is no character development or any interaction and - apart from some smart lines from Iron Man - no meaningful dialog.

The heroes first beat each other up, then they make peace, then they beat up bland Loki and his alien invaders - that's the story. Not really fascinating, is it?

The movies effects are OK, somewhat artificial in places, but not overwhelming. E.g. avatar was worlds above this.

To summarize: Boring story, bad dialog, mediocre effects - this is a predictable popcorn movie, unless you are a big Marvel fan, you can skip it.
