After Life (2019)
Binge-worthy
Expecting to see a goofy Ricky Gervais tv show? You're in for a surprise.
It's a thoughtful and serious show in which you explore the difficulties about death, depression and happiness. I haven't lost anyone close to me and still it manages to resonate and impact my life. After the first chapter I just couldn't stop watching (watched all six episodes). The writing/directing is amazing and you go through the same as the main character so you start by feeling sad and depressed and you end up recognizing hope and happiness in your own story.
Truly a wonderful job by Ricky Gervais pulling off enough seriousness and comedic relief to make it a worthwhile experience. Definitely going into the list of re-watchable tv shows.
Condor (2018)
Promising at first but disappointing at the end
At the beginning it shows a promising plot in which a young "incredible smart" CIA analyst discovers some secret terrorist operation that the same CIA was doing.
All this is great but as the season goes by you can see more and more plot holes, story's inconsistencies like characters having the same physical appearance, timeframes that don't add up, etc.
For example in a flashback one character the muslim CIA agent that is meant to release the biological compound , 6 or 7 years before that is being tortured by Al Qaeda in which time he has the same haircut and beard as the present.
Joe is constantly being out smarted by everyone, sometimes he lacks proper combat training or "kinetic" as it is mentioned on the show and another times he doesn't.
Another example is that Marty Frost (the blond gal that has a grudge with Joe's uncle Bob) arrives at Gabrielle Joubert house to stop Sharla from killing Gabrielle, after convincing Sharla that Gabrielle is the bad one they take a ride for a few seconds on Sharla's car, after that the car mysteriously breaks down when they decide to comandeer a vehicle on the freaking freeway. So WHAT ABOUT Marty's car? Did she arrive on foot? Helicopter?
Anyway the whole thing is riddled with production and storyline errors and what could've been great turned out to be at best something to watch while you're doing something else.
New Girl: Engram Pattersky (2018)
Really bad
Looking at the bright side the show is finally over. At first a funny show that promised very much and I'd like to think that for a few season it did deliver on that promise. But the last season is a nightmare ending with two of the worst episodes I've seen. And this last episode is just wrong, I kept trying to see if the plot had any meaning. Spoiler it didn't. Sad finale but I'm glad it's over.
Inhumans (2017)
Never again. Watch at your own peril.
I've now watched three episodes just to be fair and to judge properly this show. Suffice to say I've wasted at least three hours of my life. *I'm not going to discuss anything about the comic since I haven't read any and don't know the whole story.
Terrible narrative and acting. On the other marvel shows while not being the best acting ever there's something going on and really you can watch it without worrying about the acting. Not here, here you end up questioning casting decisions. But really the guys acting as karnak and the guy with the hooves are frankly awful. Trying too hard to be something smart and funny in Karnak's case and ultra loyal and tough on Gorgon's case. The one that takes the whole load of vegetables is the guard that betrays the genetic council, Auran.
Anyway I'm gonna list the maximum cringe moments
1. Auran and the betrayal, worst acting ever, where did this actors came from? Don't take me wrong I love emerging actors and actresses, low key great acting guys give a crappy show a purpose, not here. 2.Medusa's exact length Haircut, and seriously her ability to be on a dress without something underneath but in Hawaii in the jungle and away from the city she manages to find pants to go underneath? Not buying it. 3. Auran "unexpected and totally surprise" healing powers that saves her from a stabbing 4. Karnak and his ability to weigh every outcome but falls of a cliff and loses his powers (not so smart now) 5.Seriously? Ramsay Snow/Bolton? Not even a haircut? Not even a shave? a Villain once again? Yikes 6. Mordis, the kinda robot kinda guy in a overall character? Seriously they went low cost on the budget for costumes.
7. Flora? The one that can make a path on the jungle but doesn't until the robot-ish overall guy suggest it?
The list goes on and on, but you get my point. You've been warned.
Inhumans: Behold... The Inhumans (2017)
One of the worst shows that I've ever seen
First I would like to admit that my interest in this show was divided, half of my interest was set on Serinda Swan (watched her on Ballers and think she is mighty fine) and the other half of my interest was on a promising show (without knowing much of the comics). I just wanted to watch something sci-fi like The Orville or Star Trek Discovery (actually while I wait for the episodes to air)
I couldn't believe the disappointment since the first 15 minutes of the show and I wanted to shut it down. But just to be fair I saw the whole chapter. My comments:
-Terrible wardrobe and costumes (almost as bad as R.R green lantern's cgi suit) -Awful narrative and acting (The acting on the guy that can weigh every outcome, karnak, is really awful, not that smart to be funny) -Seriously Ramsay Snow/Bolton? Seriously? Don;t get me wrong I think he did a spectacular job on GoT but you can't repeat the formula just like that and expect the same results. Shame because on my eyes at least he was a promising actor. At least they could've shaved his head or given him a different look. -CGI everywhere and bad CGI actually the dog was the best CGI of the show and really when a massive teleporting dog is the best CGI of the show, boy are you in trouble.
