Black Box: Sweet Little Lies (2014)
I tried, but I can't bear to watch anymore of this show.
I did not rate the pilot of this show highly at all, mainly because of things so many others have already said, like the way mania was depicted - where Catherine's perfectly functional at work one minute, and then the next she's dancing on stairs, and no one at her work would has any idea. However, I wanted to give at least one more episode a go just to see if it was just a weak pilot. But no. More drama, bad writing, bad acting, and far-fetched story lines (in saying all this, if this show had a different lead actress, the program would be more bearable.)
This show is so full of angst and contains significant parts where you can't tell if it's a comedy or not that I can't see how this show will last. I tend to suspect that a lot of the younger fans may not understand just how far-fetched and unethical some of the stuff that's brought up in this show actually is (e.g. the way the doctors behave - like how they talk about patients; the poor representation of mania; making a joke of neuroscience as a profession; and misrepresenting diseases etc) but perhaps if they knew, they wouldn't rate this show so highly. One could only hope.
