Kaththi (2014)
A Never Expected Performance by Vijay
To start with, i have always been a neutral fan. just a social person. Thought k he is gonna do double action and is gonna mess things up as he did in his previous movies ATM and Villu. To be frank. i thought Thuppaki was his best, but after this movie i just cant believe myself. Hats off to Vijay. i didn't know that he had so much of talent for which he was actually waiting for a time to expose his talents.Physical makeover is actually not necessary for this guy and u wud say this is called acting where his body language speaks for him. I wud thank ARM for crafting and extracting the best from an actor. Hard work has really paid. Anirudh, BGM rocks. he has reached new heights except for 2 songs which were not necessary and cud have tried something better. apart from that Selfie, Pakkam Vandhu and Aathi simply make u go crazy and Neil Nitin mukhesh, puccah corporate villain. a good find. Overall. Am not sure whether Vijay wud get one such hell of a movie again in the near future or not. But hope he continues to do so and it is a sure shot movie.
Pokkiri (2007)
One Man Show
This one is sure to satisfy action thriller lovers. Plus points. Hero and Villain. Excellent casting. Chemistry between hero and heroine. Hair raising action. Racy script. Foot tapping songs. Excellent screenplay. Comedy except for the water joke.
I dnt find any negative points. Everything perfectly placed. One of the biggest grossers. An overall showcase of Vijay. Perfectly planned by the director though its a remake. was better than the original Kannada movie which felt annoying . Hate Kannada movies which has no star value. Music has greatly contributed to the film which adds flavour to the scenes. This movie will be an evergreen one for Vijay and to people even who hate him.
Vettaikaaran (2009)
Film for Vijay fans
Vettaikaran a mass masala entertainer with no logic. But does cinema need logic? Cinema is something where the unimaginable things are done. Cinema is something to showcase things not possible in real life, if logic alone exits then there wouldn't be an industry named Hollywood. But since its kollywood, we'll talk abt what persists here. Vettaikaran is a film for the masses. And to be true, am a big fan of commercial entertainers which makes ur heartbeat throttle for more and i found this film was one of the best for a mass hero like Vijay. Action sequences were the only thing which i found was insane. stupid fight scenes with too much dust. Otherwise its a decent film which has all the elements for a family entertainer. The film offers all the necessary ingredients for a good meal. And it did good business at the box office which the producer claimed to be one of the biggest grossers under their banner. I found the film interesting, and to people who need logic are supposed to watch out for adaptations and films based on real life incidents where things have to look more real. Pls dnt step in watching all kinds of films and post stupid comments here. Cinema is cinema. try differentiating genres
Velayudham (2011)
A decent mass entertainer
The script was good. Action was good. And a perfect actor who suits the image. But the screenplay was a bit out of quality. Not to be blamed b'coz of the director and he is just budding. Otherwise film is good and surely needs a character like this that has some good message to the society which will be evergreen and useful. Music wasn't up to the mark. Cud have been better given a little more hard work. People who love watching one man shows and imagine themselves to be a superhero, this movie has lots to cheer and admire. Action seuences were new to the industry. Stun Silva has done hair raising action which wud keep u to the edge of your seats. dialogue delivery was good.
Nanban (2012)
Sure Shot
Remake of course. But has it lost its charm made by Rajkumar Hirani? definitely no. One of the praised directors S.Shankar has made sure that it doesn't go for a compromise in anyway. Since a comparison cannot be made on people of both the industries, its just a overall view. The film was exceptional. Screenplay, music and the most important the script where human values are mainly highlighted. When its Vijay and Harris combo,Songs are offcourse trendsetters and chartbusters. Excellent album and the best of both Vijay and HJ. Was surprised to see a mass hero performing such a soft character in his own style which is very well enough to convince critics and the audience. And the movie shows. Shankar has done a pretty job adding a little more colour for his star value. So am sure Nanban is another worth movie to watch.
Thuppakki (2012)
one of the best movies with a social message.
Hats off to Thuppaki team for making such a tremendous movie and the most important for having lived up the expectation of the most hyped film in south Indian film history. It has been a long time since i have seen movies with social and human values. A one man show which no other actor cud have achieved. The best effort of the director so far in his career and will be a feather in Vijay's hat till his life. The actor was a pleasant to watch and something new with the presentation as he was always criticized for his mass masala movies with no values. i enjoyed frame by frame visuals of his acting which was his completely convincing. I just forgot that i was a watching a Vijay film. and Santosh Sivan's cinematography has added colour to the movie and now i realize y he is the best cinematographer in India. Sreekar Prasad's editing, new comer Keecha's action and Harris's beats have played their parts well adding strength. Kajal was a new bubbly girl to look forward in the future. One the whole, this is the best film of the year acclaimed critically and commercially. A perfect entertainer which can convince anyone who watches. And Vijay has added justice to the role.
