Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004)
Thought provoking...the truth as interpreted by Michael Moore
All of the facts contained in this movie are in the public domain and most of it has been in the newspapers. In other words, there is nothing new here. What is different is that Michael Moore had the time and resources to bring everything together into one place and present it as his version of "The Truth".
Propaganda can be described as the truth, interpreted in the interests of the propagandist. In this, Michael Moore succeeds. He tells a very compelling story. We have to remember however, that comments and actions taken out of context do not give a complete picture. In this day of 'information overload' it is tempting to resort to short cuts. To let other people present us with just the 'pertinent facts. It is important, however, to remember that what we will be getting in that case is just what that person wants us to see and hear. Is that really enough for us to make an informed decision on our own?
Good Boy! (2003)
You have to go home and hug your dog after seeing it.
This movie is for people who share their lives and home with there puppy-people. Those who do not like dogs, or those who think dogs are "just pets" need not bother as they would not understand it. This movie held all warmth and love that a dog could possibly share with it's person.
I have seen it three times and I have gone home and hugged my dogs each time. As soon as it comes out on video I am going to get it so we can watch it together.
