Sapphire Girls (2003)
The worst movie I've ever seen in my life.
I've seen a lot of movies in my day. I've seen a lot of bad movies, more than I can count but this one takes the trophy for being the worst movie I've ever seen in my life.
First, I rented this movie being an avid music lover and being glad there's a movie around a band. Not only a band, but a chick band. My expectations were a little mixed. So I rented it and decided to give it a try. It was so bad that I wanted to finish it so I can say how bad it was with having seen the whole movie.
The characters in this movie are all idiots and need to be shot. Lets look at the guy in "No-won" which was stupid joke to begin with. That guy was such a tool if he was going to get help from three dumb chicks. I mean he hit a guy with a frying pan. Surely out of all his training, he could done something a little more professional. The whole pill idea just lost me.
Lets not forget, the thing that bugs me most about this movie is that the girls aren't even playing their instruments correctly. It seems like they've never even picked up an instrument before. It was poorly done and I just ordered the movie. I feel that I should own the best movie made of all time and the worst movie ever made of all time. I mean some movies are so bad, they're good, but this one is nothing anywhere close to that. Check it out if you want to have a good laugh and be horrified beyond believe that someone actually paid money to have this movie be made.
Paycheck (2003)
Good Movie in General, Not a Woo film.
Paycheck is John Woo's 6th American movie, not counting the ones made for TV or short films. I must say though, if you are seeing this because you are a die hard Woo fan, you will be disappointed. However, if you see it for the entertainment value, you will walk out of the theather with a sense of satisfaction that you spent money on this movie.
First, this movie was a short story by Philip K. Dick. You might have seen some of his work represented in films such as Minority Report, Total Recall and Blade Runner. The movie really reminded me of Minority Report and has that futuristic sense to it. I'm not going to give away alot of plot elements just because it will take the fun out of seeing it and spoil it. The basic plot is that Ben Affleck's character, Michael Jennings, is an engineer that uses other people's idea's for other cooperations. After his work is done, he chooses to have his memory erased to avoid remembering the long months he takes to work on these items. After working on a job, he comes to with his memory erased with twenty items. He has to piece together what he did in those three years he can't remember. That is all I'll say about the plot. It is pretty much what the previews convey but anything else would be spoilers.
Now for all you Woo fans. I went into this movie not expecting a whole lot in the Woo aspect. There were a couple of Woo trade-marks represented. He uses a dove in the movie, very Mission: Impossbile 2 oriented, the stand off, slow motion of course, but not as tasteful as most Woo movies and birds in thier cages, which seemed to me like a Hard-Boiled homage. I could be wrong but I hope it was. That movie brings back good memories. The double pistol action was missing from the movie and there could have been a lot more gunfights. Theres a couple of things the characters do that wouldn't normally do in a Woo film. All in all, it wasn't as bad as Windtalkers, which I think is Woo's crappiest movie, but it's no Hard-Boiled. The violence is really toned down and the bodycount isn't too high. Theres almost no blood in the movie as well. Mission Impossible 2 had more Woo trade marks than this. All in all, Woo fans, you could be disappointed.
