The American Ripper (2023)

Horrible acting

This movie has a common but decent premise. Newlyweds buy house where previous owner murdered his wife. New owner picks up bad vibes from the house and goes on rampage.

I'm a haunted/cursed house fan. Thought I'd get a few jump scares. A few creepy moments. Wasn't really expecting much but this came in below even those low expectations.

The acting was so bad I couldn't get more than 15 minutes into it. And when there are ridiculous set ups that early in the movie, there's no hope. I have no idea why this is rated as high as it is.

Please save yourself some pain and watch something else. Pretty much anything else.

The Unseen (I) (2023)

Confusing and boring

Not sure what happened in this movie. I mean literally; it was confusing. I hoped the end would explain everything but nope. Why was Olivia in the basement? Didn't the kids even have an inkling about the abusive dad? Why did the therapist get so scared? I'm not sure getting answers to these questions would have really mattered but they could have at least tried.

I like the lead actor (from Breaking Bad) but he deserves much better parts. To be fair, the actors didn't have a lot to work with. Writing was bad. Effects were bad. Plot was bad. Only reason it got 4 stars was because I actually finished it.
