Not what you wanted and that is good.

Sometimes a clever meta movie and critique on the current film industry and other times a bad action movie.

If you are looking for a good action movie, then you will probably hate it. The action is mostly bad and looks cheap when compared to the other Matrix movies.

Matrix Resurrections takes an unexpected turn and does not try to please it's fans like all the other movies that hollywood makes these days. It tries to do something different and sometimes achieves it.

Enjoyable movie if you like the Matrix movies and weird meta movies, that are poking fun at the audience and the film industry.

There is nothing worse than a bad comedy
6 July 2022
I like the idea of this movie and the attempts at satire and poking fun at USA, politics, social media etc., but this movie was just painfully unfunny and excruciating to watch. Giving this future Razzie winner an Oscar nomination for the best movie of 2022 is just criminal.

If you like watching unfunny comedy and improv edited to over 2 hours in length, then this movie is for you. Otherwise skip it. There is nothing worse than a bad comedy.

Yeah, it is bad but...

Warning: Spoilers
This movie is really bad and atrocious, but for me the only interesting part was that the aliens were looking for Jeesus. That concept could be made into a good movie, but in this it just comes off as silly and propagandous and yes I am an atheist.

The movie starts with an interesting mystery premise and grips you, but then it just goes off the rails and not in a good way. I really like these kind of movies, but this just tries to do way too much.

A good'ish SCI-FI movie, was a bit disappointed.
10 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I really like Denis Villeneuve as an director and he has done some movies I loved: Prisoners, Enemy. So I was really hyped to see him direct a serious sci-fi movie, but I was a bit disappointed with the end product.

SPOILERS!!!!

Positives:

The acting by the two main leads were really good. Amy Adams is always great and I was surprised how good Jeremy Renner was. It's a really well shot movie with striking visuals (one poor cgi shot) and images that won't at least leave my head in a while. Soundtrack was also really good.

Negatives: "How about we just talk to them before we start throwing math problems at them?" When I heard that line in the first act of the movie I was like OH NO! That's precisely what you should do when you are trying to communicate with an alien civilization. Use a common language: MATH! Start with the prime numbers and build from there. Use simple calculus with pictures: one line plus one line equals 2 lines. But that's just my personal gripe with the movie, but it buggered me so much because I was expecting a hard science fiction movie.

The 2nd biggest problem I had was the stereotypical military guys who are just basically shoot first think later type's and are unwilling to listen reason. "Let's not communicate with the other landing sites","Radio silence!","Let's not share our information because nobody shares theirs!" Like WTF?! are these people in kindergarten or what?

Overall Arrival is an enjoyable watch with your typical Hollywood contrivance that left me wanting something more serious on the science front.

A watchable LOW budget sci-fi
4 December 2016
An OK'ish low budget sci-fi movie with an somewhat interesting premise that involves parallel universes and it's the first movie I have seen that uses the quantum suicide machine. The parallel universes weren't handled in the way that many world's theory suggest's so that was a disappointment. The visual effects and cgi are pretty bad, but understandable given the low budget of the movie. The acting is poor, especially the Asian professor. The movie isn't completely trash however. There are some interesting moment's and set pieces (if you want to call it that), but overall I would not recommend it.

Disappointed
31 January 2016
As a huge fan of RLM I was really looking forward to this movie, but I was really disappointed.

It's not funny.

I really like their skits that they have done in the past(HITB&others), but this movie just isn't funny. I was kinda smiling in few parts and laughed twice, but yeah there is just so many missed jokes they could have done. I was writing a better movie in my head while watching it.

They clearly put a lot of effort in to making this movie and I'm not trying to dis them, but I suggest next time they should put much more effort in to the script than the sets and special FX.

They should try making some kind of down to earth comedy(clerks) rather than a high concept one because of their limited budget & crew.

And the acting/casting choices of Rich and Mike were just horrible. Mike should be the lovable cynic and Rich the wacky one not the other way around.

I hope in their next project they don't try to do these "wacky" voices and just speak in their normal voices.
