Duck Dynasty (2012)
Gets old and dumb after season 3
The first 3 seasons were great but it should've ended right there. For whatever reason the characters stop going duck hunting after season 3 and the show focuses more on petty family drama. You can tell even in the first three seasons that it's clearly scripted and the characters are caricatures of themselves but it's entertaining at least. You can't say that about the later seasons.
I guess you can't do much with a show about duck hunting and making duck calls but this show does get creative in the first 3 seasons. There's episodes where they go frog hunting on Willie's golf course and get arrested after sending Phil and Si to to Willie's kids career day, another episode where they build a duck blind out of an old trailer on Phil and Kay's property, and another where they take Willie's RV on a roadtrip to get some ATVs just to name a few.
I also can't help but think Willie in real life isn't as much of a buzzkill or pretentious snob as he's portrayed in the show. All in all it's a pretty good show but as I said I would've put it out to pasture after season 3. I understand that's not how networks work though as all they care about is making money.
Seinfeld: The Puerto Rican Day (1998)
The worst episode of Seinfeld
This is the only episode of Seinfeld I skip when rewatching the series. The part where Jerry, Kramer and George all end up in the same apartment is kind of funny but that's it. Elaine's storyline where she gets stuck under the bleachers was dumb as was George trying to get laughs in the movie theater using that line. The guy shining the laser pointer on George was dumb too as was the spat between Jerry and the guy driving the Maroon Golf. Just overall a boring and poorly written episode. I would recommend only watching it once if it's your first time watching Seinfeld but I would not recommend watching on a rewatch.
Family Guy (1999)
It ran it's course about 12 years ago
Family Guy used to be the funniest animated sitcom and my favorite animated sitcom on TV. I was never a big fan of the Simpsons, South Park, King of the Hill or any other animated sitcom. This show falls somewhere between the mainstream family-friendly Simpsons and the overtly crass South Park. Nevertheless, it is about as un-PC as you can get and makes fun of virtually everyone.
However, beginning around 2006 shortly after coming back on-air this show started to go downhill and lost its edge. All of the jokes became centered around Quagmire's hatred of Brian or his overzealous sex life, cutaway bits that are drawn out to the point of awkwardness, constant pop culture references, or flashbacks that start along the lines of "This is more ____ than that time I _____" or "This is like that time I _____".
While this show has lost its originality and creativity it's still better than most of the mindless crap on TV today. I continue to watch reruns of the old shows on Adult Swim but once it gets past Season 4 (2005-2006ish) I stop watching.
Everybody Loves Raymond (1996)
What a load of crap
This truly is the bottom of the barrel as far as sitcoms go. What mindless drivel. So unoriginal, boring, and predictable. It's the same storyline every single episode. Ray the wimpy dopey husband lets his wife walk all over him while Ray's parents barge in (ever heard of locking the door?) and the mother in law criticizes Debra's cooking or gives a backhanded compliment about the house being clean. Meanwhile, the father sits on the chair in front of the TV with his pants unzipped bashing Ray's sons and his own sons Ray and Robert for having homosexual tendencies. Then the mopey giant cop brother Robert comes over and complains about how everyone prefers his brother Raymond.
My parents used to watch this on TV Land every night and thank god they stopped. Even King of the Queens which is a very mediocre run of the mill sitcom is comedic gold compared to this steaming pile of horse crap. This has to be the most overrated sitcom of all time along with Friends, Big Bang Theory, and How I Met Your Mother. I'll stick to watching sitcoms like Seinfeld, the Office, and Family Guy.
It truly is a wonder to me how this garbage managed to stay on air for 9 years and what's even more mind boggling is how many people actually thought this was funny enough to keep tuning in for 9 years. But then again Americans were stupid enough to elect Reagan, Bush, and Trump president so who am I kidding?
Probably the most baffling, disturbing, and annoying part of this show is the cliche dumb doormat husband and the genius housewife who is never satisfied. You sit at home all day while your husband goes to work and makes good money so you have no room to complain. I cannot fathom how she can be so negative all the time.
Anyway, if you have half a brain avoid this show at all costs. But if you hate your own life or like femdom then this is the show for you.
Deadliest Catch (2005)
Great show while it lasted but it's time to pull the plug
This was and still is my favorite show on television but I may stop watching with the Cornelia Marie not being shown on this upcoming season and the Time Bandit not being shown after this season. In my opinion season 12 should have been the last season. The producers managed to keep it interesting through the first 10 or 11 seasons but season 12 was boooooring. You can only do so much with guys catching crab before it becomes the same recycled story lines over and over again.
With that being said I probably would continue watching if the Cornelia Marie was being shown on this upcoming season because I wanted to see Josh Harris continue to grow and become the sole captain of the CM. That would have been the ultimate revenge to Derrick Ray who said that he would never be a captain on the Bering Sea. I also wanted to see if Jake Harris and Elliott Neese would return but from what I hear that's not in the cards.
