Fright Night (2011)

Awesome remake that actually lives up to the original
27 November 2011
When I first saw the trailers for this movie I honestly had low expectations. Hollywood has an awful record with successful remakes. It was only after I walked out of the theatre that I realized how mislead I was.

Now, usually I have a lack of respect for directors who do remakes because I always believed it showed how low creativity is these days. But for Fright Night, it was different. The film truly showed how it is possible to take a good idea, and, in ways, make it better. Because while the movie does follow all the main characters and basic concepts of the first movie, it also takes up a story of its own and is told very differently from the original. Although I will not spoil any of the movie for those of you reading this, I will beg you to go pick up a copy of Fright Night and experience what I did: a smart, simple, down to earth horror movie with that little bit of comedy that adds the perfect tone-something we haven't seen in the film industry for quite awhile.

Overall great remake, looking forward to many more viewings to come.

Pure Garbage

Warning: Spoilers
How can anyone even come to liking this movie? I came on here expecting to see something between three and five stars and when i saw that it had a 7.3 i fell out of my chair. This movie has absolutely no plot/ dialogue what so ever. One minute they're at a party then the next their running around in a street from an unknown enemy. What strikes me as most unbelievable is the fact that through all of this terror, someone still finds the need to keep the video playing on their camera... thats ridiculous. The only part of the movie that is worse then that is the end, where the monster thing (whatever it is) allegedly kills everyone, we assume, and then the camera starts playing some film of two people at a carnival sometime before this nonsense took place. Overall cheesy, boring, and extremely predictable.

If you were planning on watching this movie, I recommend you not waste your time on this sorry excuse for a film. Go watch something like The Mist, or Alien if you really wanna see a good creature-feature.

Wrecked (2010)

Great Movie

Warning: Spoilers
Honestly, I hate to see that this movie got a 5.1 out of 10 because truly I believe it should at least be carrying a 6.5. No offense, but people who say that this movie is slow and boring just have bad patience and cant learn to appreciate a movie for what it really is.

This movie shows the hardships a man faced through a real life situation that scary as it is could happen to anybody. His struggle through the wilderness and journey to safety and finding his true identity were riveting and the twists came out at the perfect times. Everything in this movie seems to build off of itself and it is still to date one of my favorite Adrien Brody movies who by the way was excellent in this movie.

Warning: Spoilers
Im not going to sit here and go into a deep explanation of what this film is about, because that has been thoroughly explained in many of the other reviews. What I will say is that The Shawshank Redemption is without any doubt the most amazing film ever written. The acting is tremendous, the story is original, and the movie itself has a deeper meaning to it. This movie is not about the hardships of prison, it is about the importance of friendship and the realization that hope is your greatest aspect. This piece does not focus as much on Andy and his great escape from Shawshank, but more on Red finding that there is always meaning and a purpose for everything. The story really unfolds when Brooks, an old timer that Andy and Red had been close friends with, is put on parole and released from prison. After confronting the outside world and knowing that he could not cope with it, Brooks finds that he has no purpose outside of life in jail and hangs himself. Later in the movie, after Andy makes his great escape from prison, Red is finally released from Shawshank himself, and is put in the same situation as Brooks. Only one reason marks the fact that Red himself didn't commit suicide. That reason is Andy. Red figures out that he does have a purpose outside of prison which is to see his best friend again and to "give him a handshake". And as the movie comes to a marvelous ending, that hope to see Andy becomes a reality.

Overall the best movie I have ever watched and I am glad to say that I will continue to keep watching it again and again and again.
