Don't Panic (1987)
NOT SO BAD
I thought it was a low-budget horror flick. Well,I was wrong because it`s a no-budget kind of film. Anyway, let`s just say it`s not as bad as it seems. SCREAMING MAD GEORGE(make-up wizard of "SOCIETY","BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR",among others)did the visual effects here. The story(which was told in a better way in "LONG TIME DEAD")centers around a bunch of teens playing with this ouija board. Through this they invite a supernatural killer known as virgil. Director RUBEN GALINDO tries hard to shock audiences but it doesn`t go beyond what we`ve seen already before.
DEDICATED TO HORROR GEEKS ONLY(i`m proudly one of them).
Evilspeak (1981)
CLINT RULES
Such a rebel film with CLINT HOWARD(ICE CREAM MAN)seeking revenge against the local bullies at a military school. His wish is fulfilled when he finds a devilish book in the cellar. GREAT FILM.
Sweetwater (1999)
SWEETWATER RULES,AMY JO ROCKS
This is one of my all-time favorite movies.
I`m a huge AMY JO fan,as well as a huge SWEETWATER fan.
I could not believe when AMY JO had been chosen to play NANSI NEVINS. It was great to see her sing such songs as MOTHERLESS CHILD,IN A RAINBOW,WHAT`S WRONG? and TWO WORLDS.
For those who don`t know,AMY JO`s also a singer. She`s released an album called THE TRANS-AMERICAN TREATMENT,which is amazing.
Pin (1988)
SIMPLY ONE OF THE BEST HORRORS OF ALL TIME
I saw "PIN" for the first time back in 2001. Each time I see it it kinda gets better.
Before this one I only knew SANDOR STERN as the director behind "AMITYVILLE 4" and "GRIDLOCK",so i didn`t have many expectations. But God,is this film great.
It centers around a character called Leon(DAVID HEWLETT,of "DARKSIDE" and "CUBE"),who has this devilish-talking-dummy named Pin as a friend.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS: Pin guides Leon on his every-move,even when it happens to do with his sister,Ursula(CINDY PRESTON of "DARKSIDE',"THE BRAIN" and "PROM NIGHT 3".
I think "PIN" is one of the greatest horror movies of the 80`s. A truly scary and original one, extremely subtle low-budget flick.
It also has a great soundtrack signed by PETER MANNING ROBINSON("SOMETIMES THEY COME BACK...AGAIN").
I love "PIN" so much it appeared on the first issue of a fanzine i`m the publisher of called "FORGOTTEN HORRORS".
ALL HORROR NUTS GOTTA CHECK THIS ONE OUT.
PIN NUMBER 1 FAN.
