Creed (2015)
Great boxing movie... One of the best in fact
The first four Rocky movies were great, fave was part 2 and part 4 had the best fights.. The 15 round match that ended that film was epic in every sense... 5 was okay... Then over 20 yrs later he returned in Rocky Balboa.. Which was a great film... More a drama that led up the the fantastic fight at the end.. Now Creed, when I first heard about it I was like, this ain't gonna work... Creed's son?! Boy was I wrong, the characters of Adonis (the son) and uncle Rocky.. Was mesmerising to watch from the moment they met, right up until the end... Micheal B. Johnson is excellent in this, haven't seem him in many roles but this role he nailed perfectly... And Sly.. U made a Rocky 7 and I thank you for it... He was fantastic as the Legend come Trainer, as Mickey was to him all those years ago. I wont go into the story.. But it's a pretty sweet set up and once u start watching, you're literally gripped right up to the very last fight... Now the fights... U see Southpaw was a great film, more the drama aspect itself.. The actual fight I didn't think we're THAT good.. Not bad or anything but in Creed u feel every punch.. The fight scenes are some of the best you will ever see... Ahh the training, when Rocky starts him off by trying to catch a chicken running around the pen, it brings back fond memories... And lastly someone mentioned the main bad buy wasn't that sinister or something but as a fellow Brit, he nailed that role perfectly to.. I loved how the last fight was set in Liverpool at Goddison Park, home of Everton FC and when the audience starting chanting like it was a football match nice. And the so called Pretty Boy antagonist was very cock sure of himself and had that typically aggressive nature of a Liverpudlian bad boy u could tell he just wanted to end anyone he came across.. His comments to Adonis at the end of their fight was very nice and surprising touch as well.. I'll leave it there guys... This was am all round great Boxing film.. It had a lot of heart but it's Michael B. Johnson and Silvester Stallones performances that really stand out in this movie... Watch the fights also like I said before... Brilliant fight scenes..
The Following (2013)
Season 3, best yet?!
OK, the premise of the show got me interested when someone mentioned it to me a while back when Season 1 first started.... i'll admit, i was hooked from the first episode but halfway though, it all got a bit dull, repetitive and ultimately, boring!!!! Good guys get a lead, go to make an arrest and the baddies always got away somehow.... too many implausible scenarios as well made it not very believable..... it was hard to finish the season i'd admit and somehow, i pulled myself back in for Season 2 which in my opinion, was shockingly bad!!!! i was actually happy when it finally ended... couldn't take much more of Joe Carroll, his pompous voice and that extremely irritating girl he always hung around with, in fact.. all the followers were jarring in one way or another.... the appeal of serial killers/followers/cults got a bit to much in the end...
Then out of nowhere, Season 3 is here and with hesitation, i gave it another chance, hoping the writers would take it in another direction to freshen things up a bit.... they had to as the original premise had all but run it's course....
I noticed that even though it started with focus on one of the killer sons and his 'followers' from season 2, this slowly (with the release of Joe's mentor Strauss) evolved into a massive manhunt for a new type of killer who according to Strauss, is his BEST student and boy does this crank things up a notch... no more 'followers' less screen time for Carroll who is about to face the lethal injection and finally a worthy killer who, compared to all have appeared on the show before him, cannot compare to how sick and twisted this guy is, and he also happens to be a hacker genius and is always 2 steps ahead of the police.... the last couple of episodes where the FBI try to uncover the identity of the UnSub have been some of the best episodes of the entire show.... I hope this theme continues as there is no need for cult type leaders with sadistic tendencies, i much prefer where this show is headed now, with focus on one out of control killer who is out for himself....
I might be one of the few who is finally glad that's it's taken a new direction and hope it continues to evolve.... can't wait for the next episode now...
South Park: Freemium Isn't Free (2014)
Best one this season!
The best animated site on TV has evolved... I think for the better.. It feels more grown up but always carrys that edginess to it. Anyways, this episode is a smart, funny and current one that deals with mobile gaming apps and their in-app purchase methods.. Explained hilariously by the Canadians with regards to their own Terence and Philip gaming app. The live add with the drink add had me in stitches with Trey screaming Drink, you in a tuxedo, fast cars, bitches, more drink, even more cars etc... It was just random and I love those random south park moments.
Easily the best episode so far in a decent season... I'd rank seasons 8 as probably my all time best but hey, I'm just glad the show is still going and always, while not as stand out as past season episodes, it still keeps things fresh. I hope the trend of 10 episodes doesn't mean we'll see less and less coz that would be tragic, I don't watch any other animated show tbh, this one just ticks the right boxes, it's more clever, funnier and always have a point to it, too many people are put off by the filth and swearing of the beautiful side of south park lol
8 out of 10, very good episode overall, very funny in places, Randy with the wine scenes had me cracking up 😄
Into the Storm (2014)
Turned out better than I'd hoped
Hi guys, this is my first ever review on any film, on any site. I am a mad film buff but tend to stay away from things like these but the urge got a hold of me...
First off, I just give my honest opinion of a film, without going to deep into little details and straying away from giving other users what they want... is the film worth watching or not?
With Into the Storm, i was excited to see as I love disaster films and this one, despite the negative comments, rates as a very entertaining film.
Yep the first 20 or so minutes sets it all up with 3 separate groups (The Chasers, the school teacher and his 2 boys and the 2 rednecks)... all using hand held cameras and phones to capture an impending doom as storm clouds gather over the town of Silverton...
All i can say is that when the first hurricane hits the school all hell breaks loose and it doesn't let up until the very end...
Yes this is not gonna win Oscars but that's not the intention of these films, yes the acting can be cheesy at times but it's all about the hurricanes in this film and we get tons of screen time with those spinning monsters of doom.
Trust me when i say this, the CGI is incredible all the way through and this wouldn't have looked out of place on a real life news report!!!
All in all i was very entertained and don't care for how the cast act in this kind of movie, it's not important and as long as it's not completely horrendous it can be looked over, tbh the actors all did the job well, if i gotta say something, the kid Trey was a bit jarring but i think that was part of his young, good looking, cocky character...
I'll wrap this up by sayin YES, i highly recommend this film, especially if you just like to kick back and be amazed but CGI and enjoy the ride which was a real fun one i might add.
