Fleabag (2016)
Almost perfect
Starts a little edgy but this show has amazing performances. The story and the characters are relatable and script is smart written. life is not easy, but we are not a summary of our mistakes, that's what this show is telling us. It may seem women targeted at first but it's not, it's a social commentary about people labeling people. About depression, abuse, tendency to keep people we don't like prisoners in our life just because we're afraid of loneliness, society standards and the list can go on. Main character is far from being likable or charismatic but that's the point. She is not a victim, she don't want to be one. She just wants to be a better sister, a better daughter, a better friend and stop disappointing.
Watch it it's worth it.
Lunatics (2019)
Can I give this 0 stars?
I'm 25 min into the first episode and cringed at least 25 times. How was this approved? Who gave money for this garbage? I thought it would be something like little britain or World Peace. Toilet humor, bad acting hiding under the "mockumentary" genre but the irony and sarcasm of this show looks like it was written by a 14 yo sassy girl. Please burn this. Fire the writers. Get the producers in rehab asap.
0/10.
The Defenders (2017)
Iron fist is not a liability, if you think otherwise you're dumb af
1 thing that you need to have in a show to work it's diversity. Iron fist can't have the maturity you all want him to have cause he never got the chance to go through it. He's an orphan at a young age who lived far apart people. He doesn't know how people work, how to actually talk grownup, feel, pretend, he has this innocence that most of the other defenders don't. This teenage behavior he has actually gives life to the show, gives hope. Also the chemistry between him and Colleen it's perfect, cause they're both orphans trying to find their place in the world, Colleen being alongside Danny acting like a guardian more than a girlfriend. All 4 are very different shows, different heroes. They can't all act like Daredevil or Luke who seem they have everything figured out. The fusion between Daredevil who seems smart, calculated but has this battle inside of him of what's moral and his desire for violence, Jessica Jones who is a broken, depressive girl suffering from ptsd who thinks she want to be left alone but in reality she's craving that sense of being useful, being needed and Luke Cage, defender of his culture and sworn protector of his people, who tries to make use of his suffering which led of his powers by setting an example of morality, doing what's right and what comes with it, this fusion works. As I said, they're different. This is how they're supposed to be. The passion that Danny puts into things inspire the other 3, and the mistakes he does are the mistakes a teenager would do, a teenager who's figuring things out and always questioning the higher-ups. It's not a liability to have a immature super-hero character preferably one with a hell of a sustaining back-up story. With his naivety he would be like a darker Flash(the character not the show) from dc. But enough about that. In this show, the hand isn't the all powerful entity that was presented in daredevil or iron fist. The director does a good job humanizing them, so they're not so all knowing, all powerful and indestructible anymore. They're wounded animals, desperate, all from the leader to the rest of them. They don't have a plan, they're gambling. That's why they make mistakes. That's why they're easily defeated and takes a inexperienced but driven Elekra to take the lead to serve her own purpose. Could this show be better? Yes. For production I hated the transitions with shots from the city, they seem unnecessarily, and they're no visual bombs, that's a sitcom flare. Acting is at his best although I don't think Weaver gave it's 100% performance. That is not entirely her fault judging from the poor writing of the character development for the bad guys. They should've showed her more, she's a resourceful actress, could top D'onofrio's performance as Wilson Fisk if given the chance, but... that's that. I don't say this show deserves 10 stars but it's closed compared of what they're doing with super-heroes right now, witch is a disaster. Instead of hating on what Netflix does with these characters, you'd better support it cause now, all these 5 series, as quality and writing is the best anyone reached for a super hero series. So, keep an open mind.
My So-Called Life (1994)
a combination of beautiful teenage naivety with depression, isolation and abuse
I didn't grow up in the 90's still,I was born in 94 in Romania so I'm very familiar with that type of high school life. This show has a lot of life and really covers everything from child abuse, homophobia, addiction and adultery, things that you get to be involved or pass bay during your time in high school. I for one find this show an optimistic approach comparing with the reality now. I find now young people far more depressed and sensitive than back there, proving why Netflix 13 reasons got a huge hit, a show that has a lot of similarities to this one. As for the shows being very alike, this show has episodes that bring magic realism into the picture, like the episode with the dead girl with the guitar, it brings hope to those who watch it as 13 reasons why fail to do that. Overall, it's a good show, has it's flesh it's bones but more important, it has a soul. 9/10.
Ghost in the Shell (2017)
Mediocre
Never seen the animation but heard about it. I will address strictly to the movie. GITS lacks first of all character development. The characters have no personality, no depth they are walking and talking clichés. This whole movie is a cliché. Scarlet Johanson's performance is like any other she had. She can be either a robot or an assassin without feelings. Why? Because she can't act. She's linear can't express emotions due to that. So she's kinda perfect for this role you will think. No. A good robot was played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, staring through things and moving your head unnatural doesn't make you a robot, it makes you a bad actress. A hot bad actress. I gave 5 to the movie, 1 star cause she's hot the other 4 for visual effects witch were pretty good. This movie also contains emotional baits witch if you forgot to call your mother a long time you'll fall into this trap and feel something. There is nothing to feel. You can't empathize with this mother daughter relationship because there isn't one to begin with. It's just the "shell" so to speak. Old women + house with old objects + hot robot who can't remember her past = instant sobbing. There is nothing into it, like i said, there is no depth, there's no feeling, it's mathematics. I can go longer about what's wrong with this movie but I got bored. My advice, don't waste your time on this movie UNLESS : you're the stalking type of fan of scarlet johanson and you want to watch the movie for some masturbation material you can go watch it, i think half of the movie are just shots of her ass and boobs. You can also go if you are a visual effect freak, you're passionate about that, there are some things to see there or you're homeless and you found a ticket to this movie, go to it only if it's cold outside. Aside that there's no possible reason to go to this movie. Don't let yourself dragged to see this movie like I was. You'll regret wasting precious time where you can watch Split which is best movie this year by far.
Pacific Heat (2016)
Just very bad
I've watched the pilot. 20 minutes of nothing. Jokes are bad, the production is bad, you often don't understand what they're saying. The characters lack complexity. You have a bad version of Archer portrayed by a pretty boy, a big muscular stupid guy who can't comprehend words, and not in a funny way, 2 stereotypical hot chicks and a Asian boy looking IT girl. Throw them together, add some bad acting and you have "Pacific Heat". A lot of people watched it cause of the similarity to the Emmy awarded show Archer, I don't think that you should. There's nothing to it. If you watch an episode of archer you laugh at least 2-3 times per episode. I've watched this garbage with a straight face and struggling to understand what they were saying because of the bad production. You can't compare. It's like putting a pair of round glasses on your face and say you look like Jhon Lennon, you don't. It's just your head with a pair of round glasses. This show is pretending to be a good show. If you want something similar to Archer watch Sealabs 2021. That's my opinion. 2/10. I cant give 1 star cause I don't hate this show, I just think it's really bad. And no one deserves 1 star, not even this show.
Once Upon a Time (2011)
Another promising show f*cked up by cable television
I am going to spoil some stuff, but nobody should care since last season is unbearable, might save you from the pain of watching it. The first 3 to 4 seasons were decent, now the show got pretty sad. They are obviously getting at recycling ideas and keep spooning to the public this cheap soap opera with main characters always whining "boo hoo this boo hoo that, I became good but I am not good, I want to be happy but I'm sad" Mr gold is a hero 10 episodes then he's bad again, wait he's good again... nah it's a trap, after other 5 episodes he's back at being bad again. Wtf is this sh*t carousel of nothingness? where are you f**king going with this? do you even have a plan or keep driving this show in circles so you can add more lesbian romance in children stories? What's going to be? Make the dwarfs gay and plot a massive gang bang for the 6th season? I'm very disappointed. Season finale was pathetic. The whole coin in the well crowd was so disgustingly cheesy that I threw up a little in my mouth. Is that how society works in your vision? Do you really think people will go and throw coins in a well because a emo looking kid with dental problems told them so? No. Why assume that normal people would react as storybrook people would? Is New York the real world or It's also enchanted? Is the Statue of liberty gonna wake up and start killing people? Shouldn't you make it more realistic? No one reacts to the emo kid in season finale like normal people do. Example: "f*ck you kid, get down of that block before you hurt yourself, retard" No one says "Why is this kid doing drugs at his age?" No one says "I don't f**king care why this emo kid wants to throw himself off that block, I'm late for work." No? Is that New York? Really? Plot twist: we're back on Lost and everyone is dead actually and imagining fantasy figures like Snow White, Rumpelstiltskin or New York people helping each other? What's the catch guys? Anyway my message to you "producers" and "writers" of Once Upon a Time: F*ck you, people, please get a real job, stop making TV shows.
