L.A. Noire (2011 Video Game)
An OK game, but will start a new genre
17 July 2011
I expected much more from this game for being a 2011 game. I know that this is a start in a new direction and all but I think they rushed it too much. The facial capture and end results are great but that's about it. This is probably the first in any game to feature facial animations where you can really see the person behind it. The graphics are OK since it is this generation still. The gameplay was probably the thing I was annoyed with the most. After a couple of cases it became reeaalllyy redundant. You can just guess what will or could happen next. The cases are all too much of the same and it will bore you. The game story is very linear and the side missions are the same thing over and over. Also, the guessing to see if someone is lying is not accurate at all. The choices were not good because you can pretty much "Doubt" almost every time and it will be correct 2 out of 4 times and you will still move forward in the story. One of the main thing that bothered me was that I tried to find all the clues without using the points to show all the clues, which in turn lead a quite an annoyance. Some things you just have to go up to every little item in the game and examine it. Otherwise you will never see them. Overall the game is decent and it will for sure lead to a new genre of games to come where presentation is more important than shooting almost everything that moves like most common games nowadays.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West (2010 Video Game)
5/10
Not bad but could be much better
14 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
After I found out that this game was made by Ninja Theory, the group behind Heavenly Sword, I went out to find it. It took me 2 days to complete it. I can say that although it was an adventure to go with, it was not nearly as entralling as Heavenly Sword. In this game, the story was linear because you can expect what happens next. The game becomes too repetitious as you fight the same enemies over and over. The leveling up system was good and the controls are good. The graphics are colorful and beautiful at times but could have been more sharp and detailed. The main character, Monkey, was a common main hero type of guy which I didn't feel for. They could have made him a more unique person which would've added to the plot. The Monkey King storyline is like what the synopsis says, "loosely." If you know of the story, you will automatically know the key items from the actual storyline. It is just set in a different time and world. The game is filled with too much action and strays away from the bond that could've been between the characters. I think the developers purposely made this game for a Western audience. The game hardly had any cutscenes and when it did, I didn't really care for it because it was like the makers of the game had to put it in just to connect it to the next action part. It seems like the game was rushed and not enough variety of gameplay and enemies were put in. I give this game a 5 out of 10 because it tried but didn't make it. I expected so much more from it. Heavenly Sword was a much better storyteller and pulled me in so much deeper. Rent this game for the weekend or borrow it from someone if they have it. I will just have to keep waiting if Ninja Theory will come up with something new and intriguing.

Heavenly Sword (2007 Video Game)
10/10
Great storytelling and superb game
26 January 2011
When Heavenly Sword first came out, I remember seeing the ads for it on TV. The ads emphasized only the action and hack n slash gameplay which didn't catch my attention. Not being much of an action fan, I didn't bother to play it. It was about a year after it came out when I got the chance to try it. It took me by complete surprise when I found out that there was an actual good story. The background takes you into the game's story and you feel for the characters. Hardly, any games will do this. The graphics, dialogues, and motion acting are great as well as the gameplay itself. This is one the titles you must play for PS3. These types of games are very rare and are not appreciated much today. Easily a 10 out of 10.
