The tension from a Scorsese gangster scene with the vengeance of a Tarantino film.

I watched this film without knowing anything about the plot. All I knew was Vince Vaughn's performance was supposed to be good and Zahler had been churning out some fantastic films. I suggest others do the same.

I thoroughly enjoyed Vaughn's performance. He draws you into his character well.

Even though you may have seen similar films or stories, this one still feels fresh and pulls you along as you wonder how it all will turn out in the end.

This was a blast to watch. I simply enjoyed being taken through the story. Suggestion for maximum viewing enjoyment: Drop the preconceptions and don't read up too much about it.

If you are looking for another run-of-the-mill horror film, look elsewhere.

Skinamarink basks in tension through limited visuals, lights, and minimal dialogue. There is no comfort found in conventional storytelling. The film is comprised of many static or limited movement shots--most of which nearly never show you fully what is happening. Nearly every frame has you white-knuckled waiting for something to appear from around a corner or out of a shadow.

This writer/director creates the horror where it is most effective, in your imagination. This film is best experienced with ALL of the lights in your house turned off and the volume on the TV turned UP.
