Better Things (2016)
Refreshing and original. An accurate look at life as a single mom with daughters.
I recently came across this show after watching X-Men and couldn't find my controller. Boy, am I happy I didn't find it. As soon as I started watching Pamela Aldon's portrayal of single mom, Sam, I was hooked. I never watched Louie before so this was my first time seeing her in a role. I felt she did such an amazing job portraying a strong woman who doesn't need to rely on anyone, but wouldn't mind if someone stopped to help (especially if it were her three daughters, Max, Frankie and Duke).
I love this show so much because it shows a very real depiction of what it's like to raise 3 demanding daughters who are at such critical ages in their lives all while trying to maintain a relationships, friendships and a job. Sam does her best and while it may not always be the right thing, she does it with love and her children know this. Yes, there are times I get frustrated with how Max and Frankie talk to their mom but Sam never fails to show who's boss.
I also personally resonate with this show so much because Sam never gives up on her daughters and never stops loving them, no matter how hormonal or angry they get, which was very much like how I was raised. Definitely highly recommend!!
Live PD (2016)
Addicted. Love it.
Ever since the beginning, I've loved live PD. It goes beyond the typical cop reality show and shows multiple police interactions throughout the United States. Since it's live (mostly), some episodes are better than others. An episode falling on Halloween makes for a great episode but a slow night leads to a lot of boring traffic stops and DUI tests. If you can understand this about the show and also that some cops may be less fair than others, it's a really fun show to watch on the weekend. I love coming home from work and watching a few solid hours of live PD.
As for everyone complaining that the show jumps all over the place, I think they are viewing the show as something similar to cops where there are 3 stories with a beginning and end. Live PD is a 3 hour show that is meant to show you highlights of what is going on around the country. Plus, a lot of the time cops have to ask questions or check things on their computers so why air all of that just to get to the conclusion. And from the many hours I've watched this show, they always seem to do a good job of telling us the outcome, even if they don't go back to the scene they will verbally tell the viewer.

Drive (2011)
This film will stick with you! A beautiful piece of art that is timeless.
This film absolutely blew my mind. For the past few weeks, I have been hearing nothing but fantastic reviews on this film. The hype was built, and I was definitely not disappointed. The film sucks you in right from the very beginning, and creates a dream-like atmosphere for you to walk out with at the end. I wasn't exactly sure what I was about to watch, all I knew was it was the new Ryan Gosling film and an action thriller.
This is the year for Ryan Gosling. Ever since Blue Valentine, he has been an actor to watch. He has definitely earned a new name for himself apart from The Notebook. His acting was on point, allowing you to feel his presence by just catching the glimpses in his eyes. The cinematography and soundtrack where what completed the film. I instantly went home and bought the soundtrack, and have been playing it ever since. This is what cinema truly is about, and something I miss seeing in films today. I highly suggest seeing this film! You will not be disappointed.
