The Paper Boy (1994)
Main character is like a cross between Eddie Haskell and Norman Bates transported to the 1990s
At least that's what this movie seemed like to me. Now, don't get me wrong, the flick was passable, but it lacked the bone-chilling punch expected from a thriller or horror film. It felt more like a whimsical nod to the evil child genre, akin to a playful riff on evil child thrillers such as "The Good Son, "The Bad Seed" and "Children of the Corn."The evil kid in this movie appeared as though plucked from a '50s sitcom and unceremoniously dropped into the '90s. He even sported some those vibes associated with classic sitcom characters like Eddie Haskell of Leave it go Beaver, greeting the adult protagonist, portrayed by Alexandra Paul (Stephanie Holden from Baywatch), with a touch of the phony, "Hi, Mrs. Cleaver" charm early on. Then he shows her his true psycho self, but even that comes across as more cheesy than menacing. The filmmakers were clearly aiming for this sort of vibe. All in all I would give it 5/10.
God & Country (2024)
Low rated flop, yet every review here is positive.
It is possible that Rob Reiner himself is personally generating multiple accounts to provide favorable reviews for this film, or perhaps an impassioned supporter from the left is engaging in such behavior. Alternatively, it could be a concerted effort by several left-leaning individuals who have chosen to create accounts solely for the purpose of reviewing this contentious movie. Nonetheless, the film's lackluster performance remains unchanged. Support for it seems to predominantly stem from individuals aligned with radical leftist ideologies, seemingly unable to discern the broader implications of the radical left policies associated with Joe Biden, who is perceived by some as a mere figurehead influenced by various anti-American interests. The prevailing concern, it appears, revolves around the perceived radical left agenda, with Biden's consistent approval rating hovering around 40% throughout most of his presidency and his trailing behind Trump underscoring this sentiment. These dynamics prompt a critical reflection on the current political landscape.
Karen (2021)
Movie is garbage
First off, there is no doubt that racism still exists. Black families moving into predominately white neighborhoods still meet discrimination from residents. However, this "Karen" thing has been dragged too far and is sexist, ageist, offensive, and everything else the people who push these ridiculous stereotypes claim to be against. You are defeating your own purpose, people. You can't destroy. As much as some want to deny it the reality is that there are bigots in every age group, race, nationality and political affiliation. This movie is bigotry and if they were trying to send a message with it they failed miserably. As a newly minted 40 year old, I am also sick of this "middle age" crap. This is 2023 not 1950, and that goes for age groups as well. We will never truly advance as a society until we fight all the -isms.
Night Court: Bringing Down Baby (1991)
Re: Yuk
This episode wasn't painful to watch as it is fiction. It also makes fun of child actors who act like spoiled brats and they DO exist believe it or not. I found the episode funny and found nothing wrong with it. I wouldn't exploit any child of mine, but some parents unfortunately do. Besides, we have had a lot of great child actors in our time. Night Court never ceases to be funny with it's humor. They may be trying to redo this show, but it doesn't fly with me. There will only be one Night Court, and that is the original one. Nothing will ever compare.
Oh and one more thing...this episode wasn't an '80s era anything as it aired in 1991.
George & Tammy (2022)
If Michael Shannon wasn't playing the great George Jones I could probably give this show a shot.
I absolutely DESPISE Michael Shannon ever since he made the remark that elderly people who voted Republican should die for their political beliefs. Don't get me wrong, I know Hollywood is mostly a hypocritical lefty organization, but I can often overlook an actor or actresses political beliefs if they are talented enough. I continue to be a fan of left-leaning celebs like Cher, Barbra Streisand, and many others. They are living legends and never said anything as cruel and disgusting as what Shannon said. Shannon isn't famous or talented enough. I never even heard of the guy before he made those remarks. Then having him play a legend like George Jones is very offensive to me.
2 Broke Girls: Pilot (2011)
Terrible!
This joke of a comedy got off to the worst start possible. Was this supposed to be a semi-parody of the Simple Life or something? Never mind that Caroline called Paris Hilton 100 when she is only four years younger than Hilton. Paris Hilton was only 30 and Beth Behrs was 26 when her character made that stupid crack. I just don't get this show and it's unlikely I ever will. I don't know how it made 6 seasons. I know CBS has been struggling to find quality shows-something they are still struggling with today-but good grief, this show is beyond terrible. Two of the most unlikeable pairs in history And the writing and jokes are terrible.
The View (1997)
This show is ridiculous!
Isn't it ironic that two of the most miserable people on the planet are named Joy and Sunny? I will throw the equally miserable Joy Reid over on MSNBC in there too. It's starting to seem too many of the people with bright and cheery names just tend to be the exact opposite. I've known better people with names like Stormie and Rocky, It's not just Behar and Hostin who are hateful and stupid though, Whoopi Goldberg and Ana Navarro are equally despicable. While I had never heard of Navarro before, I once highly admired Whoopi as as an actress, but she has lost a lot of fans (me included) due to the vitriol she has spewed since joining The View.
Last Man Standing (2011)
Lots of libtards don't like this show
That is a plus in my book. Yeah you think Trump is a bad President. I thought the same thing about Obama. This show isn't for the PC and easily offended. There are other shows that push that nonsense. We put up with the Pathetic West Wing. Get over yourselves lefties.
