What a wonderful way to escape from reality life for 70 minutes! The ladies are simply stunning, and the burlesque was on point! I was entranced, and loving how this low budget independent film simply made it all work! Kudos and two thumbs up! SEXY!!

The Victim (2011)
9/10
Fun little sexploitation film!
21 September 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I have followed the progress of The Victim for the past two years, and now completely understand everything Michael and Jennifer said about it. This is not a film to change your life, or make you contemplate the condition of Man. It is eighty-three minutes of plain, simple fluff! Michael Biehn lets the viewer know right away, on the first opening shot of the woods, that this film is not to be taken too seriously. . That little wink should clue viewers in and draw a chuckle.

While the performances in The Victim will probably never win any awards, they are all strong. Some of the dialog is laughable, but that's OK! I believe that was the intention! Some of the lines are direct nods to other films, and Terminator fans should recognize one such reference easily.

Knowing what the film-makers went through to complete this film, and what they have since done to promote it and find distribution for it, I have to say kudos and applause to the effort! Their passion and commitment to make an "unrepentantly sleazy" little sexploitation film says to me that making a dream become a reality *can* (and does happen).

Jennifer, as Annie, is pure joy to watch. Some of her scenes were very intense, and both she and Michael have admitted that it was their personal relationship as husband and wife that helped to influence her performance. I was utterly convinced of her terror when she got to Kyle's cabin, and her ability to transform from shocked to tough and sarcastic, to beguiling to get what she wants shows a depth to her acting abilities.

Ryan Honey and Denny Kirkwood are interesting in their portrayals of two dirty cops, just out to have a good time. Kirkwood got, without doubt, one of the best laugh-out-lines of the movie! You'll know what I mean when you see it. Honey is perfectly smarmy as the Sheriff wanna-be, and I found myself rooting against him at every opportunity.

Danielle Harris, aka the Scream Queen, is one saucy, sexy, beautiful woman. I am not familiar with her work in horror films, but in this movie it was easy to see the absolute love that her character Mary and Jen's character Annie share for one another. This was not acting, as the two women are best friends in real life and they were just basically being themselves. She also gets some of the best lines, or eye rolls, or looks of sheer boredom in the movie. She is one powerhouse little lady.

All in all, The Victim is a fun little romp. Any Michael Biehn fan will love it for *so* many reasons!! I cannot really talk about the man without gushing, so I will simply say that I am proud of him and his first offering as writer/director. He'd *better* be working on a sequel as penance for the way things end. I actually cursed him, then laughed, when I saw it the first time. So, no... The Victim will not change your life, folks. However, it should let you step outside of your everyday RL drek and just kick back and enjoy for awhile! It won't kill you, and you just might have some fun.

My rating on a scale of 1 to 10 is 24.
