Great animated sci-fi horror movie! Non stop action, gripping storyline and great characters.
Definitely one for the hardcore horror movie fans. Gore galore, but done stylishly! Very exciting from start to finish, you even see the ending at the very start of the movie pulp fiction style! But it is the journey and not the outcome which makes this movie so entertaining.
The animation is not resident evil next gen cgi stuff, but the grittiness definitely fits the macabre feel of this movie and does not take away from the overall quality.
I feel the action scenes are done very well, and the creepiness of the artifact and its unknown power underlying every scene adds great suspense!
I think the movie is like a cross between event horizon, eve online and left for dead! I have not played the game but am certainly not disappointed to have seen the movie first. In fact after watching the movie I expect that playing the characters through the storyline in a game would be great!
So finally a big 9 for Downfall, especially as there are too many manga enthusiasts judging this book by its cover, I think it deserves better. Don't take my word for it, watch this and find out for yourself!
