Give it a chance - similar start to Spider-Man
11 June 2022
I don't understand all the haters who are calling this a kids show? Most Spider-Man stories start with him in high school and no one calls that a kids show?! This show is culturally diverse and has really cool cinematography. It incorporates technology in a clever, timeless way. I am really excited for the next episode! I think people complaining have qualms with other elements of the show they don't identify with, so they are trying to write it off as juvenile. Don't listen to the haters, give it a chance!

Get a few episodes in!
8 January 2022
If you get a few episodes in, there are some truly funny moments, one-liners, etc. I at first didn't like the main character, but the more I watched the more I liked her. There are some really funny things said that they don't even give you enough time to fully appreciate. It's a shame they aren't bringing this back for another season !

Cute-Scored Low Due to Ignorance
26 September 2021
This movie is about two dogs who can talk AND sing! Rating this movie low because the casting is color blind, but claiming you are protecting history (and preventing repeated mistakes,) is stupid (and racist). How many movies exist from this timeline that have all white people?? Why have another one?! This is fictional, not historical (singing dogs). I think changing the cat song was also a great call-but it still is a crazy stressful song! Cringe!

The essence of this film is the same and I think it's cute. Kids will love it. Our dogs loved it. I think Janelle Monae did an ok job with Peggy Lee's song. There are parts of the original that will always be better, but the changes and updates to the story stand on their own just fine. This is a cute addition to the Disney collection!

Fun and Relaxing!
21 August 2021
I love how this is a competition, but it's friendly. The other bakers are supportive and sometimes help each other. I also love how we get to see the winning dessert at the event after. This show is really enjoyable, very light hearted and relaxing!

Perfection!
27 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This drama has been one of my favorites. I am not a binge watcher, but I did some serious binging on this. The love triangle did have my heart all over the place. I see a lot of negative reviews, almost all of which were rooting for the second male lead (aka the guy who didn't get the girl). I would've been mad if my lead didn't get the girl too-and I think the writers did a lot more in the plot for both male leads to build tension for who would get the girl, but it confused people used to more obvious plot lines. I think their confusion got their hopes up!

I loved the three guys from Samsan tech and that there was a friendship element to this story. I also liked the sister and family plot lines. This drama really has it all-Business, family, friendship, love, laughs, tears, etc. Somehow I didn't know about Nam Joo-Hyuk before this, but I am ON BOARD now!!!! Wow! I am probably going to start going through his catalog!

Uplifting and Fun
13 March 2021
With every thing going on in the world, give yourself a break! This is a perfect k-drama that is light hearted and feel good. It is a perfect distraction from the real world! Not every show has to make you think, has shocking surprises, etc. This show is entertaining and relaxing. It made me happy and I hope it makes you happy too!

One of the things I like about k-dramas is how they wrap up all the loose ends. Every time my mind wonders, "What about..." they normally have an answer. This drama does this so well! It is a light hearted romance and I was left feeling fully satisfied.

It is a little longer in places, but I have seen k-dramas that extended the plot way longer than this. Plus, who doesn't want more of the stars great chemistry, heart warming moments, and progress for side characters? Savor it all!

Borderline Boring, but STILL Romantic
2 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I liked this kdrama overall, but I wouldn't watch it again or recommend it to most people. I found it to be very slow and lack a lot of the characteristics that I like about kdramas in the first place. There weren't many cliff hangers, the drama that does happen is not easy to understand, the characters are frustrating, and I did NOT like the music, which is in all English. Of all the kpop and/or OSTs in SK, they come up with this soundtrack?!

I guess culturally I don't understand the Mother's character at all. Even when I tried to consider cultural elements, I still felt like she was totally unredeemable. I rarely like kdramas that fast forward time at the end, and this wasn't an exception. The last few episodes are rushed, and unlike most kdramas, almost ZERO loose ends are tied up. The things they did tie up were not satisfying after watching 16 slow, detail bogged episodes.

About half way through this series, I started fast forwarding all the non talking scenes. It made it a little more bearable and faster to finish. I have only stopped one kdrama before and I think I would've quit this one if my Mother wasn't invested in me finishing it. Ironic, I know.

Don't Overthink This One
23 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Where are my Ravenclaw, deep thinkers, and book worms? This kdrama is for you, but I warn you not to overthink this one. It has a touch of the Goblin vibe, but the complexity for some real deep thinking. Woo Do-Hwan really stole the show for me-he is cute, funny, serious, versatile! I found I loved the episodes he had a lot of screen time in. This was my first kdrama and I was hooked quickly, but after watching more, I feel that I can see where some people complained about pace. This show has a real Lion King meets Prince and Me vibe. Since it was my first kdrama, I hadn't experienced Lee Minho before, and he is stunning in all his turtlenecks and coats. He isn't my favorite actor based on looks, but you can't help but respect his skills and swoon-worthy performance in this. The only let down is, as this show is best for thinkers and theorizers, the ~mysterious theory~ you might be guessing is a little boring. But the ending overall is satisfying and I didn't feel mad, angry, or confused. I recommend this drama overall and would say not to get in the weeds guessing theories and just enjoy the romance, outfits, and comedy!

Near Perfection
23 August 2020
This is my second favorite kdrama of all time. I came in to the show deciding I didn't think Gong Yoo was handsome, but I was convinced he was near perfection by episode 2. This is super romantic and the chemistry of all the main characters makes this drama really special. But as kdramas often have twists, I found that I preferred my own imaginary endings to the actual one, so I had to give this a 9. I felt like there were more creative ways to end the show, unless they perhaps were leaving ~some~ possibility of a season 2, which has not come to fruition yet. I had a few unanswered questions at the end. But hey, a season 2 would probably cause mass hysteria (in the best kind of way), so I can't help but hope for it.

Gateway Drug to K-Dramas
23 August 2020
I was obsessed with this show when I first watched it. It was my second k-drama and I couldn't believe how perfect this show was. I RAVED to everyone to watch it, but no one I know watches kdramas. Finally my mom, the least likely person to ever watch a subtitled tv show, tried it and also became hooked. She has told everybody she knows and gotten like 5 more couples she knows to watch it. If SHE likes it and can overcome subtitles, anyone can. She just finished it a second time and says it's the most perfect tv show ever made! I can't help but agree. Loved the acting, storyline, cinematography, everything. This is a real delight in the glum of 2020. Most kdramas haven't lived up to the bar this show set, but I'm realizing kdramas are way better than American tv, so get on board people! :)

Very Strong K-Drama
23 August 2020
I really loved this k-drama. Normally I don't binge dramas, but I watched this one in one week (which is fast for me). I will say I am a TOTAL chicken and a few scenes freaked me out or made me feel a little scared, but if you are a chicken you should be okay. I think I was more startled bc I wasn't expecting that from this show based on reviews and recommendations. The character development builds really well and the show keeps a good pace the entire time. This is not one that will disappoint you in the end or leave you confused. There were only a few MINOR plot holes, but overall pretty good. This is also a little bit of a heavier drama, but there are some comedic moments. It's worth it for the romance, they have a strong screen chemistry.

Great Watch
3 May 2020
I don't know why people are saying this started slow? There is a ton of action in the beginning. I think there is enough to set the stage for viewers to know a lot can/probably will happen in this series. They have done a great job building out the characters backstories and side stories along the way. This is my first kdrama and I love the cinematography and some of the transitions. There are some cultural things implied here...context about the history of Korea and some local cultural things (celebrities, food, etc) but even when I don't exactly get the joke or reference, I can still tell that it what is going on. So far this whole thing gives me a prince and me mixed with lion king vibe. Loving it!
