A quirky treasure. A fine masterpiece.
16 July 2007
The Accountant written and directed by Ray McKinnon, AKA Vernon Waldrip (he's a suitor) is one of those one a million films. It's charm and wit are something very rarely seen now just six years later. The film focuses on the O'Dell brothers and a little problem they have with back taxes. Enter The Accountant, a hard drinking, chain smoking good ol' boy who's brains may not only save this little farm, but a whole way of life in the process.

It's a dark comedy to the teeth. You'll find yourself laughing until you cry one moment and the next you may get a little feeling of terror.

I really recommend this film if you are a big fan of the Coen brothers early films, or if you have good taste in film whatsoever.

Punching Necks
23 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I viewed this movie last night at our local theater and have to say that I was extremely disappointed. Never before did I think pretentious, shoddy dialogue and almost an hour of landscape shots could land a film as "exhiliarting." Add to that a dash of extremely overdone homoeroticism (just wait until the hot springs scene) and you easily see why i wanted to "punch necks." This film is another example of art overdone. To even compare this film to Sideways or Brokeback Mountains is comparing that of Home Alone to Once Upon A Time In The West just because they both have a little kid in them. If you want to see a film that has the most minimal plot ever conceived by man then I do suggest this film, or if you're having a very hard time going to sleep at night, just pop this guy in.

May God have mercy on those who see this and smite those who made it.
