It could have been better and it could have got a higher rating if some of the things done actually had purpose and a point in the story. For instance getting tattoos to fit in. Fit in to what? It seemed like he was going undercover but in the one place that his "art" was mentioned in passing, it was in a bar and most of his "art" was covered up. A fake tat from the quarter machine would've done fine. The music score did not fit the movie and in my humble opinion brought it way down. Music sets the mood and slow whiny music does an action movie little good. No depth to the characters, plot holes, just kind of boring. Seriously just changing the score would have changed this movie from a 5 to a 7. Add a little tension to all the scenes would of added another star.

No this isn't some artsy movie but its a great action movie! One of my all time favorites. There is a lot of explosions, stabbings, and violence. Oh my! I think people are way to hard on this movie. I don't get it. The acting is great. Big budget. Good action sequence. I mean what do you want? Wow that explosion had such deep meaning on so many levels! whoopee Dee do! If you really need something to hold onto for meaning in your over critical lives then ponder the family relationship of the pirate captains and really how many steps are you away from it in your own family? There you go now there's something for everyone (except kids).
