Silo (2023)
Dull and Duller
Not to sound like a broken record, but the first episode was really good and the rest of the series sucked. The most interesting characters were killed off in the first episode (apparently). It probably could have been a decent 90 minute movie by cutting out hours of boring filler scenes, the irrelevant characters popping in and out and the meaningless subplots. And the big mystery at the end didn't make much sense. So, the outside world was actually unsuitable for exploration as the government said all along. That was apparent when Jules went out and we saw the bleak, lifeless atmosphere and the numerous other silos covering the land. That being the case, what was the point of the government lying by showing the false illusion that the outside was nice, green and sunny? The goal of the government was for nobody to ever have any curiosity in the outside world. Why not show it for what it was, dark, barren, lifeless and filled with toxic gases. And if someone felt the need to go outside to see for themselves, give them all the equipment and tools they need and send them out. The rest of silo residents will become loyal believers when they don't come back. There has to be another reason for all the silos and the government not being upfront about their history. But I don't know if I can sit through another dull boring series.
Slasher (2016)
O Canada....This series really suckssss
The first season was barely palatable. I stopped after the second season, which was complete rubbish. Slasher is a bad bootleg of Scream or I Know What You Did Last Summer. That whodunit not so serious horror genre from back in the 90s. And season two didn't learn and grow from season one, it got a lot worse. Both seasons take you through seven episodes of mystery unraveling filled with too many flashbacks and irrelevant characters. By the time the killer is ready to be revealed, your exhausted from boredom and willing to accept the far fetched, silly motive. On a positive note, the acting was very good.
The Black Phone (2021)
PLEASE STOP IT
OMG! Please stop. Obviously a bunch of Blumhouse tools leaving reviews. This was mediocre at best. Filled with story holes, lack of plot development, overused subplots and unrealistic scenes. Let's talk...... young boys are being kidnapped in a neighborhood of a major city. But, when school let's out, there's not a parent our cop in sight as the kids walk home. And the suspect trolls around the neighborhood in costume in broad daylight with a big black van that sticks out like TWO sore thumbs and nobody bats an eye. And the inconsistencies go on. However, the acting was good, the nostalgic 70's setting was superb and I always enjoy a happy ending. A happier ending would have been the abusive dad going to jail too.
Freaks (2018)
Please Stop. Mediocre At Best
Does not deserve all the Stars and positive reviews. Okay, cute little lead actress did a remarkable job but that's it. Very boring, not scary and the only thing creepy was the old man. It is actually a rip off of Stephanie which was a lot better movie.
Brazen (2022)
Yes, it was beyond bad
To compare this to a made-for-TV movie would be an insult to made-for-TV movies. It's in a category all by it's self. Alyssa Milano tried her best but there was no saving it. Grade F.
Scream (2022)
Fun Time
A nice whodunnit movie that's watchable but very unrealistic. I kept asking myself, "where the hell are the parents? Where the hell are the police?" And then a scrawny teenage girl is shot multiple times at point blank range and was able to get up and stab to death a grown man. Later on, she throws a huge teen house party and is again shot at close range multiple times and burned to a crisp. But guess what, she gets up again for some more action. And the rest of the cast were either stabbed with a butcher knife or shot with a pistol and able to continue fighting throughout the movie. So you may enjoy it as long as you don't take it too serious.
Blame (2021)
don't BLAME me
If you waste 90 minutes of your life watching this crappy movie. Take heed to my warning and please pass. Extremely amateurish. Nothing good about this dud.
Midnight Mass (2021)
Midnight Mess
Way too long. Would have worked better as a standard length movie. The endless babble made it boring. The story was OK, the setting was good and the acting was good (Except the lead lady). Just too long and boring.
A priest comes to small island town bringing good will but at a cost. Grade D.
The Guilty (2021)
Mindless and Annoying Babble
Friggin stupid movie. Apparently, all these positive reviews are coming from Team Gyllenhaal followers. Speaking of which, I'm about done with him and his weird movies. I put him in the Nicholas Cage category of crazy roles. Don't care to see the original either after wasting my time with this dud.
A troubled police officer reassigned to dispatch duties goes back and forth with the same caller for 90 plus minutes. Grade D-
Behind Her Eyes (2021)
Could Have Been Special.......But
Did I overlook the name Steven King In the credits? Or did I miss in the description "fantasy" or "supernatural?" No, no and no. So I thought I was getting a normal psychological thriller. Then the last two episodes turned into the X-Files.
The story was slow and convoluted but also interesting and intriguing. I was pleased most the way through my binge watching. Good acting, good setting, good story..etc. The plot was too complex to detail in this review. Let's say a love triangle plus one. The downside was that it couldn't stick the landing. Thrusting in the supernatural in order to fit together the scattered puzzle pieces. Could have been special.
Aftermath (2021)
Beyond Dumb
I felt like a moron for sitting through this mess and an even bigger moron after figuring out the plot. There's so many stupid holes in this movie I won't even try explaining. It's like a marriage between one of those bad Netflix movies and the old school lame Lifetime movies.
Beckett (2021)
A Complete Dud
This movie earned every bad review listed. Very amateurish and way too ambitious for anyone's good. The story was stupid, bad acting by the main character, JDW, unbelievable stunts and on and on. Grade D-
Se7en (1995)
I Was Not Impressed
Back in the 90's, I spent a good deal of time frequenting my local video stores, so I was baffled that I had not seen Se7en. A 90's masterpiece that I somehow let slip through the cracks. How could I have missed out on this gem? That's simple, because it sucked. I probably did see it and just plain forgot. It's the typical cop mismatched partner movie who chase after a serial killer. Completely illogical script. Dumb ending with even dumber twist. Freeman, Pitt, Spacey and the rest did their jobs. Regardless, just a stupid story
Antebellum (2020)
It is, what it is..................A Bad Movie!
For starters, it's not a horror movie. Maybe a thriller, but more like a suspense drama. Anyway, it's still a bad movie however you want to label it. I'm not getting into the political babble or shaming. And, in my opinion, the entire premise is a direct ripoff of The Village by M Night Shyamalan but made into an illogical slave movie. Janelle Monae and the rest of the superb cast did their best considering the circumstances. A golden opportunity wasted.
Possessor (2020)
Weird and Boring
All the ingredients were there for a good movie. It has an original plot, good acting and a creative story line. But then you add the lack of character depth, lack of story line direction, long boring pauses, over developed sequences and under developed sequences. You're left with a huge missed opportunity. The kill scenes were needlessly overdone. And then there's a few kill scenes where the kill sequence wasn't even shown. Then the long, pointless sex scenes. The graphic killing of a child. The guy examining the soiled crotch of a female's underwear. The brief wearing of the human Halloween mask. WHY?
Rent-a-Pal (2020)
Nothing Special
It was okay. The concept was a good idea. The acting was good too. It had more funny moments than horror moments. It held my interest for the most part. However, it couldn't deliver in the climax and the ending was a miss.
I didn't understand because it seemed his dreams were finally answered when he received romantic interest which he so desperately sought after. The girl was cute, compatible and understanding to his circumstances. I didn't make any sense to me when he picked the pal over the girl. Grade C
A Feral World (2020)
Really? All The Positive Reviews
This was a bad movie from top to bottom. Remember the ABC Afterschool Specials. Well, this movie was like an Afterschool Special based on the Apocalypse. Bad acting, dumb story, crappy cinematogrophy.....The special effects were the old CGI technology from the 2000s. I was like no way this movie was made in 2020. Grade D
Open 24 Hours (2018)
Not Much Here
What a disappointment. By the appearance of the trailer and title I was reminded of hidden horror gems like Vacancy or The Stranger 2 to name a few. Nope. Two hours of nothing. Too many annoying flashbacks, the characters were not likable, there were several story lines were going and the worst one was picked for the predictable ending.
Emelie (2015)
What a Mess
It had all the ingredients to be a fine movie but ended up being a hodge podge of silliness. I won't repeat all the mentioned inconsistencies and plotholes. The sheer lack of common logic is frustrating up to the very end. Grade D+
The Pact (2012)
Nothing Special.... Really
Suspenseful enough to keep you interested but then the dumb twist at the end negates all the build up. In my opinion, more character depth should have been given to the killer. Otherwise, we are left with a middle aged guy who resembles Mr Rodgers, is a hermit in his sister's basement behind a false wall who absolutely nobody knows about and slithers out a little doggy door every blue moon to eat a bowl of cereal and kill women. Grade D*
La nuit a dévoré le monde (2018)
Another Zombie DUD
The movie explores the ideas of being alive and alone or better off dead in a zombie apocalypse. Good food for thought, but makes for a boring a.. movie. Then to make matters worse, a lame ending. If you can call it an ending.
The Domestics (2018)
Huh? It Wasn't Even Mediocore
These reviewers are either being paid or delusional. This movie couldn't hold a candle to the Mad Max series. This reminded me of a sloppy TWD episode (without the zombies) after it lost it's quality with Negan. Like there was something there to work with, but the writers didn't know how to manage the story. It branched off into way too many subplots going in different directions. Characters would come on sparking interest but their story line would go unfinished. This movie is more like one of the sequels to The Purge but watered down and without the sappy political under message.
The Intruder (2019)
Nothing New Here
The trailer offered nothing original, but I was still hoping for a pleasant surprise. Assurance set in with a fast pace start, good actors and a hip hop soundtrack. Then came the long, tired story line that was filled with silliness and predictable cliches. Superb acting wasted on a cable movie script.
What Still Remains (2018)
Ehhh??? I Guess
It was different. Kind of amateurish. Really good concept but lack of execution. For example, several of the characters could have been likable but end up doing unlikable things. The lead character even had a little attitude problem for no reason. The guy only saved her friggin life. She seems to be a rather good actress though. I think if the same group who did this film were given another chance, it would be much better the second time around.
Satanic (2016)
One Of Those Movies Only A Mother Could Love
This reminded me of the work from an overly ambitious high school production student. The story lacked depth, slow moving, climax was weak and way to late and it just wasn't scary. You can pass on it.
