Damsel (2024)
Good, but not catchy.
It starts out making you think it's going to be about this, and it goes with that for a bit, and then WHAM, it was just a pretense to start the movie that really doesn't carry on beyond that point.
I kept wondering off, not paying attention to it and having to go back. I was never drawn into the film until the very end.
At one point the story changes from the beginning theme to a brand new one that lasted a little bit before moving on to a third idea that really seemed to come out of nowhere as it didn't add up to things that were already shown in the movie.
Then there was this part that just made no sense and I think was added just for an emotional response.
The ending was good, finished up the one theme well and brought the main character to the desirable conclusion. The story was 2/10, as there were a few stories with essentially 2 characters. But overall I like it and found it entertaining if I took it piece by piece and ignored the overall story/stories and would give it like 7/10. So add it all up and I'm giving it a 5/10, instead of a 4/10 for visuals.
The American Barbecue Showdown (2020)
Bad judge
The show is actually really good, great competitors. Great food, but ruined by 1 of only 2 judges. First, 2 judges, what? Second, one seems like she own a few Burger King franchises, and since they "flame broil" their meat she thinks she's a BBQ expert, but she seems like the lowest common denominator. Puts WAY to much emphasis on her personal taste and ignores how well dishes have been done. The other judge is great, he takes his personal tastes and seems to toss it out the window, just judges on how well the dish is done or how badly it's done. It was foolish to only have 2 judges, and idiotic to have her as a judge who can't separate her personal tastes from how well a dish is done. She always says "for me" or "personally" to emphasize just how awful of a judge she is.
In Plain Sight: Second Crime Around (2011)
Great at first
When I first came across this show I loved it. New and original, so being an American show I figured it would be cancelled in order to make room for some dim witted reality show. This love kept for the first two season then dwindled to a hope through the third. I was excited for the fourth season thinking they took their time and wrote some new and exciting, but it seems to me to be the same old same old, just replace the names, crimes, and who wants to kill them. SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER I thought I had missed an episode, well a few. I wasn't up to date on the pregnancy story and couldn't for the life of me remember anything. I actually came here to see if the actor who played the father died or was fired, but no... And here I am watching the season four finale and really, still have no clue what's going on. I think they know and say, "the American audience is dumb as all hell, so since we can't have a hit like Jersey Shore, let's make this as dumb and pointless as possible." Honestly, have only been watching in hopes that they come to their senses and realize people with a three digit I.Q. still watch television. If you're just starting, DON'T! Or at least quit after season 2. In the end, I'm sad, this is awful, yet started out so good. Like many American shows, I looked forward to the new season I was disappointed, most of which were cancelled. It's sad to see an original idea go to waste in order to satisfy the null minded fools and their love for mindless dribble.
