The acting is not bad, but the writing makes me laugh. If you believe the writing, everyone involved in US Intelligence is completely incompetent and gullible. Considering that I live in a country with limited English-language programming, I've kept watching, but that's the only reason. Good actors can't save bad writing. Morris Chestnut is always enjoyable to watch and the surrounding cast give believable performances. The plot lines have so many holes. And there's not enough backstory to make you invested in the characters. This show is a waste of good talent. No wonder it only lasted one season. There are other versions of this type of show that have much better writing.

A big miss or mess!
30 August 2022
The acting is great! I really enjoyed the performances of the actors. The real problems are in the storyline. It's full of plot holes. If you're going to take on heavy topics like racism and murder, then you have to follow through. It seems that the writers either didn't know how to address legal issues or were too caught up in the idea of forgiveness to realize that you must also deal with justice. The ending leaves me completely befuddled because it does not address a few of the major issues that take place during the movie. I think the writers weren't up to the task, which is unfortunate because the movie had potential. I found it very frustrating at times to follow the plot. It didn't make sense.
Awaken

Excellent movie!

I don't understand the negative reviews. It's a really well done movie. The action scenes are well choreographed and believable. All the actors are great! The plot makes sense and the lead actress is fierce. We enjoyed it! This is a perfect example of why you should judge a movie for yourself. I wonder if the negativity is due to having a strong female lead in an action movie. Sexism strikes again, perhaps???
Megachurch Murder

Not bad at all!
29 July 2022
A lot of the reviews are super harsh, but in actuality, it's a solid story line with good performances by Beach, Jones, and Miller. Knowles musical performances add a nice touch to the movie as well. Overall, I liked the movie and found it entertaining. Judge for yourself.
A Mother's Rage
(2013 TV Movie)
Excellent movie all around!

I don't understand the 5.4 rating for this movie. It's really well acted and the plot is solid. Left me surprised! I didn't see some of the plot twists coming. Definitely a great film that didn't get the credit it deserved, plus Lori Loughlin shows she's a real actress after all. I didn't expect her to be able to carry a movie and put in a really convincing performance. A pleasantly and thoroughly surprising film. If they had gotten the date right, it would have been a 10.
Raising Dion

Good Family TV
28 January 2022
Overall, this is a good family series with some really touching moments dealing with grief, loss, and change. I think the characters are relatable enough that you can connect to the storyline. The series gets off to a rocky start especially with some of the acting being a bit subpar from the adult main characters. The scenes with Michael B. Jordan are excellent though. By episode 4, the rhythm improves a great deal. I like seeing a superhero story from a kids viewpoint, and the inclusivity of the cast is great. I also like Dion as a kid superhero; he seems very authentic for a 7/8 year old, and his best friend, Esperanza, steals the show. The series needs a little more wow factor and a little more energy from the adult characters. All in all, looking forward to season 2.
Exceptional acting and writing!

Definitely worth watching.

Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand the terrible reviews of this movie. This is a perfect example of you need to watch it for yourself. It's a drama, not a sci-fi, action, thriller. It has a compelling story that I found worthwhile. The acting is great. It's low-key and then it picks up momentum when the lead character has to face her horrible past. Anyone who come from a truly dysfunctional family can see how difficult it is to confront the past. She's forced to deal with her demons, and it's a powerful ending worth the time and effort to understand the her trauma. Once she can no longer run, she finds the most difficult thing in life is to confront her past. I'm glad that I ignored the numerous bad reviews and watched with an open mind.
Broken Ghost
(2017)
This movie is genius!
9 November 2020
At first glance, it's definitely not clear what's going on in this movie. We watched it twice and it becomes much clearer the second time around but you have to pay close attention to the drawings. The plot is layered and you have to watch til the end. Well done movie, but not for those who are looking for a simple story. It's mind bending.
Sleeping with Danger
(2020 TV Movie)
One of the best movies addressing domestic violence
11 October 2020
From the beginning, the movie draws you into this troubled relationship because of the excellent acting on the part of the main characters. It does an excellent job of showing the abuser and the abused's descent into madness. An important watch for people to understand this cycle of violence.
Evil
(2019–2024)
Good show, but...
3 March 2020
Firstly, the kids are the best part! Love the little girls and their constant chatter. They're surprisingly a refreshing light-hearted component to what is a pretty heavy show. The biggest problem is that the show leaves massive plot holes at the end of every episode. They don't resolve major plot points in the story. You're left wondering what happened most of the time.
Gothika
(2003)
Seriously underrated psychological thriller
27 July 2019
I've seen Gothika numerous times and each time I watch it, I realize it's a great movie. The cast is excellent, and the touch of supernatural is well finessed, not too heavy handed. The movie isn't predictable. At least, I didn't see the ending coming. Definitely, watch it more than once. It gets better every time.
Exceptional writing and acting
8 July 2018
The writing of this episode and acting of Vondie Curtis-Hall, as the justice struggling with his conscience, are Emmy worthy. Such a powerful and thought-provoking view into one of the most controversial aspects of the US justice system.
The Dead Girl
(2006)
Haunting...
7 October 2008
This movie gets under your skin before you realize what's happened. The performances are excellent. The movie is really spare when it comes to action or scenery, but this accentuates the amazing performances. Giovanni Ribisi is one of my absolute favorite actors as is Toni Collette. Brittany Murphy brings a heartbreaking sense of humanity and reality to her character. The shocking thing about this movie is that all of the actors bring unbelievable depth and complexity to a simple story. I was really moved by this account of pain, suffering, loss, and redemption. There are so many lost people in this country who go nameless and faceless. This movie is for the people that are largely forgotten, gladly forgotten.
