Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
Season 8, Episode 5
10/10
This is Game of Thrones
13 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I've read many of the reviews, and I have to say I think people are forgetting the core of what GOT is about. It is a mythological retelling of the history of human beings. This includes wars, genocide, murder. It is a show about the good and bad in all men and women and the grey areas in between. Every character in this show has immense character depth, the fact that Dany burned kings landing is pushing that to the extreme.

For the one star reviews I have to say I think if you wanted an ending where everything was perfect then you are too idealistic. Life isn't fair. Power corrupts. People become expendable. The show has always reflected the history of human nature. Dany had lost a great deal, she had faced adversity before but her journey was one of growth and gaining support and then to have it all taken away from her in a short space of time was too much for her to bear. It's loss, grief and rejection that drove Dany over the edge. If Jon were to make his claim, her life conquest to sit on the iron throne has just been shattered. The cup dashed from her hands. If she loses the throne, what else does she have? Jon won't return her affections anymore. Her closest allies are gone. Is it a nice ending for her character? No. Is it realistic to her experiences? Absolutely.

The Walking Dead: Still Gotta Mean Something (2018)
Season 8, Episode 14
9/10
Inner conflict
3 April 2018
It seems that no one goes into a walking dead episode with a neutral mindset anymore. All of the reviews that I read that rated this episode low, seem to have already made the conclusion about the episode before they've even watched it. True, there were some poor quality episodes in the first half of the season, but this epsiode had a lot of strong points. In the first half of the season people criticised the show for mindless action or really slow-pacing. In this episode there was a nice balance between action and story-telling and it really captured the inner struggle of carol, Rick and Morgan and the difficulty of finding a reason to retain their humanity after so much has been lost. 9/10
