Cinderella (1997)
Terrific
Oh My Goodness, I First seen this film in my early teens and totally fell in love with it. Its magical, enchanting, upbeat and most importantly individual and entertaining. The acting is really good and the film has been cast in a very unexpected way which payed off brilliantly. This film is light hearted fun for the whole family to enjoy. But the reason for my review is not because of how much i enjoyed this film, its because of some of the other reviews on this website about this film. The denials of not being racist yet unhappy about the fact that Cinderella is Black and how the queen (also black) is married to a white king and have some how produced an Asian son is laughable. Like the colour of anybodies skin has any effect on the acting or general quality of this film. To hear people complain that no child would be gullible enough to believe Cinderella could be black makes me cringe. In the story were a peasent girl not only gets married to a prince but has a fairy god mother who regularly performs magic is it that hard to believe that the cast of this film are not all white. I don't think so! Bravo to everybody involved in the making of this film which may i say was a breath of fresh air.
Cruel Intentions (1999)
Wow
This is my favourate film of all time. The storyline is a breath of fresh air, not only powerful but so detailed that you really believe this is a true story. Each character goes through a chain of emotions expressing them to the audience at home extremely powerfully. This film is Cruel like in the title but unravels in to something so pure that tears literally fell from my eyes. There are many sexual scenes acted out in such a mature way as opposed to the cheap thrills so often seen in modern movies. Ryan philleppe does not in my opinion get enough credit for being such a wonderful actor. All the cast are superb and brilliantly cast. Watch this movie and be prepared to feel every emotion portrayed and fall in love with actors and actresses you might have disliked in other movies. Sarah Michelle Gellar is seductive, Reece Witherspoon who i am not very keen on as an actress shocked me with her riveting performance and well done to Selmair Blair who yet again has shown us that she really is an amazingly talented supporting actress. This film is not for the faint hearted.
Roommates (1995)
Pure Brilliance
I didn't think i could become a bigger fan of Peter Falk but this film has proved me wrong. I cant understand why this movie isn't more well known. Peter Falks acting is beyond brilliant in this movie making me laugh and cry uncontrollably. Peter Falks ability to take on different roles is shockingly amazing and until you hear his voice you would not know it was him. This film is definitely in my top 5 favourate films of all time. All of the acting is superb, the story line is detailed and gripping through out. This movie is one that will be remembered by anybody who watches it and one you will tell your friends about. Thank god for old classics such as this. In my opinion this is a must see movie.
